I'm due to start W5R3 tomorrow... It feels like a long road ahead, but as Laura says, I definitely think this is a mental challenge at this stage now, I proved this with two 8 min runs! Anyhoo..my left calf really pulls after a run and as soon as I start the next one.. I don't think it's going to get any better. Does anyone have any stretches in peticlar they'd recommend or has anyone else had this issue? Thanks
Stretches: I'm due to start W5R3 tomorrow... It... - Couch to 5K
Stretches
Here are some of the ones i am doing good luck! bidmc.org/CentersandDepartm...
Try lunges? Or on the bottom stair, with heels hanging over the end, pull up and down with your body straight to stretch the calves? Or don't run so hard?
I completed my w5 r3 today - it was the best run i have done on the c25k programme! See my post about it.
All the best!
These stretches nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/... should be done straight after a run to realign muscles, reducing injury risk.
You say you are due to start W5R3 tomorrow ........I hope you finish it tomorrow too. Good luck.
Laura has made you a little movie of stretches and a podcast all on nhslivewell site ☺ it might be pinned on here come to think ...
I've had calf issues in the past due to being more of a cyclist than a runner, I've found the stretches here useful: nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/...
I tend to hold them for longer than 15 seconds though, more like 30, I'm no expert but I find this gives me enough time to relax into the stretch and really notice what it's doing.
I just complete w5r3 and although it was tough for those last 5 mins, it was really worth it! I hope you managed it!
