I always enjoyed the idea of running but always found the excuses why not to. Well with a free afternoon while wee one in nursery took the dog and laura guided me through W1R1 and i felt great looking forward to get out for run 2, any tips for a newbie? This forum is so inspirational 😊

Keep it nice and slow and you'll be just fine. Don't worry about speed, and feel free to repeat a run if necessary. You'll be amazed at how quickly you improve. Keep posting and we'll share in your successes, commiserate with any struggles, and push you out the virtual door when you need extra motivation to run. Welcome.

I have had that chat with myself about keeping it steady and slow, I took my dog with me as he gets fed up walking to the pace of my 20 month old daughter lol,

Thank you πŸ˜„

Welcome! Always have your running gear ready so you don't have the excuse of 'can't find....'; post on here to get encouragement but also if you tell people you're doing it, you will; run slow; always have a bag of frozen peas in the freezer (you will find out why!) always do what Laura says. Always. Always. Enjoy this amazing discovery C25K :)

I've just completed wk 4, my tops tips are - listen to Laura,

trust Laura,

don't try to go too fast - you can work in speed later on,

and use this forum - which is wonderfully supportive

And believe in yourself....YOU CAN do this :)

Well done for getting out there! It can change your life! It has done for me already and that's in just 4 weeks, actually by end of week 2 I was an addict and proud to be :)

Hi Akirwin. I too have been wanting to be able to run for years but always found the excuse not to. I found this program in February and didnt start w1 until March. Now I'm on w7 and surprised at finding myself feeling down if I missed a run day (work load, daughter being ill, etc.)

I suggest that you try to designate run days (mine are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) as it helps to have a schedule for the program. Other than that, stretch after each run. There's two at the c25k nys website that you can look up or I can put it ip here if you like.

Lastly, share your ups and downs here. The people are very supportive they helped me with all kinds of advice, tips, and words of encouragement.

Have fun running!

yep folks are lovely here and dedicated to helping everyone get running.

When we say run slow we really mean it. Slow will get you round all the runs. As you progress you need to keep reminding yourself. Slow and steady, slow and steady. Make it your mantra

Enjoy yourself. It's fun and it will change your life if you just open yourself up to the possibility. Think about the changes it will make to your life. OK you might get a sore knee or ankle to begin with but that's where being slow will help you.

Have fun out there! Keep us up to date. There are folks here doing the same runs as you and you can keep up with them by checking out the threads on the right hand side in blue

Stretch out after your runs! I get strange aches and pains if I don't. And everything everyone else has already said :) Good luck!
