Approaching graduation in a couple of weeks now (excited!) and to keep me going I've signed up for a 10K next April.
Is this a reasonable goal? Before this I've never done any running and am worried that without structure I won't make it up to the distance in time π

I'm also a few weeks from graduating. What a good idea to sign up for a 10k! It's sounds far enough away to give you a goal and be ready... I might do that too (unless people here disagree) !!!
There are plenty.... the main idea, is to consolidate your runs of thirty minutes after Graduation, vary routes and distances too...
Our running legs take time to build and C25K is just the start.. stamina and strength all need to be worked on... The route is as ever, slow and steady...
After a few weeks of running in this sort of way, many move onto the C25K+ podcasts, which give us the opportunity to try different things and they teach us different disciplines within our running... If you want to take an early peek? here they are
Getting closer.... and you will be at that podium soon.. Next April is a reasonable time to get prepared for that run!
When you have graduated there is going to be so much advice for you on how to progress and move forward... Consolidation runs, C25K+ podcasts.. intervals, strides... all manner of stuff!
Slow and steady over the next couple of weeks and then the journey becomes yours!
Thanks I'll look out for all the advice in a couple of weeks. Switched my route today (per Laura's suggestion) and seriously struggled up some unexpected hills! Slow and steady was the answer but boy was it tough!
