A post for anyone who uses a bladder pack.

You can probably tell by now I am tapering so have a little more time on my hands than is probably good for me.

I use a bladder pack for my longer runs especially when it is hot but I have had a terrible time getting it totally clean. At the weekend I went to Decathlon and got this. I have just throughly cleaned the badder bag after soaking it overnight in steriliser. I know it gets grungy because I use a electrolyte drink in it but since I have had today is the first time I actually feel like it is really clean again. I would recommend the cleaning kit and at £7.99 it's not to pricey. Even though the whole bladder pack only cost me £14.99 on Amazon.

Got issued a camelbak when I went to Afghanistan, never used it and sold it on Ebay, wish I had kept it now.

After Miles_Yonder's anaphylaxis episode several months ago after using his camelback, I think you're very very wise to concentrate on getting it thoroughly clean.

Good luck with the tapering week x

Too right, GM. (Helloooooooo! 😊) I dare not go near another one again. Ever. But properly cleaned I'm sure they're fine.

Allergy clinic appointment at the end of this month, by the way!

Miles_Yonder how the Hell are you??? Haven't heard anything from you on here forever, and on Connect for several weeks. Hope all's well in Sunny Sheffield and that your super speedy, super strong running legs are still running.

Fingers crossed you hear good things at the allergy clinic. That was a scary experience you had, so it would be good to get some reassurance about the likelihood of it recurring (not that you'd go near another camelback, as you said)

Take the best of care m'dear, don't be a stranger xxx

The hanger looks great - I usually only rinse it with water and sometimes vinegar but it gets never really dry, so I rinse it again before filling it.

I thought bunging them in the freezer between uses was the way to go?

Oh I never tried that. One to remember.

My OCR chums who use one rinse it out then half fill it and put it in the freezer. The freezing prevents any nasties developing and you have the advantage of nice cold water when you go out the next time.

I was on a completely different tack there RFC. I was thinking some device for emptying one's bladder into! LOL

Trust me to get it wrong. I've been washing my laundry with lavender disinfectant for a week! I noticed today when I had me specs on. The two bottles are remarkably similar and the colour of the liquid identical. Oh well. At least I'll be germ free

Hahahaha I thought the same thing! What a terrible name... I was thinking 'Oh my! That's some serious dedication to running!'

Isn't it funny how some words just become normal conversation over time. I hadn't thought about how the title would look. Hehe. Maybe it could be a device for marathon running as Juicyju said they were just peeing in the street in front of her. I think I would of been the same as her and ducked into the provided loos.
