I can't believe its now 3 years since I completed Couch to 5k. Right at the beginning I remember running for about 90 seconds and praying for it to end, so I could walk again. I never thought I would ever complete the programme and achieved my goal of being able to run outside.

Well here I am despite a number of injuries/illnesses and some doggy weather conditions. Having moved from London to Scotland in that time and now able to run 10k's.

I feel I have come a long way and met some nice folks along the way. Not bad for someone who started running for the first time in her 50's.

So all of you just starting off or reaching your goal, your going to love that feeling when you achieve your first 5k.

I know I am not finished yet in achieving my goals. There are lots of new challenges ahead I hope.

Next Sunday the 10th Race for Life 5k, running with my sister's dog.

The following Sunday 17th. Woman's 10k in Glasgow.

3 years! Congrats! It's a great programme isn't it? We're amazing too aren't we - those of us who run because of it?

Still enjoying it which is great. Everyone who is able to run or jog now is just great.

Lovely post Burstcouch, 3 years when we started the program. Lots of ups and downs with health issues but still out there doing it again after 5 months on the bench. On w8 (28mins) but carried on for 40, still not bad for a 76 year old. Good luck on your 2 runs. Like your encouragement to the newbies, if we more mature ladies can do it they can. Pat 😅

Great isn't it Pat184, I hope this is an inspiration to others. And despite the ups and downs we have both just get back on the running saddle again. Age is never a limitation for this programme.

Lovely to hear from someone who graduated at the same time as me... I get a bit mournful sometimes at all the people who come and go!

Totally agree GoogleMe. When I started there was some amazing inspirational folks on here of all ages and I just wonder where they are all now?

For all the newbies, it is great to have a whole lot of folks going through the same as you. I do hope many will go on to do better things.

Me too I surprise myself, my friends and family that I can still go out there and run a good 6 miles.

Lovely post and inspiring that you're still going 3 years later :-). I love it and can't imagine not wanting to go out and run but amazingly I've only been running 16 weeks including the 9weeks program so sometimes worry that the novelty will wear off. Thanks for sharing your post :-)

Hi Potty I used to think oh the novelty might wear off, but I constantly try different route, or do them in reverse, and changing my playlist music frequently really helps.

there are always goals still to achieve. I just wonder about a half marathon one day....but not right now.

Wahay! Well done you

Running with the dog will be fun. Have a great time. Good luck with the 10 k too.

I'm an over 50's runner too but loving the races. They're a blast!

Great atmosphere and a good way to raise money for a charity. Today it was torrential rain and cold and all I kept thinking was please don't let it be like this on the 10th. Over 50's can still get fir can't they.
