This morning I decided to try my first early morning pre-work run. Usually I only go for morning runs on my days off, running in the evenings on work days. As my partner had to leave home at the ungodly hour of 5.30am I decided I would get up then too.
Wow! As I walked down to the coastal path I usually run along I was greeted by the sight of the sun just rising over the horizon on the sea. There was just one other runner, one cyclist, the usual man & dog - so peaceful (save for my heavy breathing!).
Although my legs felt heavy (clearly telling me that they were expecting to be horizontal, held up by an orthopaedic mattress at this crazy time of day) I kept plodding on and got a new PB. Not a flashy time (thanks to my new and much more accurate Garmin watch), but a PB is PB nonetheless!
Now for work...

In another lifetime in another Century, I was in the Navy - and my favourite watch was the early morning watch 4AM to 8AM. It is the most magnificent time when at sea - and today when we go on cruises, I am always amazed at the number of people who are still in their beds at sunrise. They really don't know what they are missing!!!. Sunrise is a time of rebirth !!
Hence that is when I do most of my running - in summer , I avoid the heat of the day - in winter , I freeze my little fingers and toes off -- but I can't help myself.
Sounds beautiful! Fancy being so close to the sea! One of the reasons I started this was so that I could run the cliff paths when I visit the Cornish coast this summer
The sunrise is always there but it's an added bonus when you're up to see it and it's not obscured by thick clouds! It was fully visible today and blazing gloriously - inspiring!
