I only started c25k as part of a weight loss plan. In the past I used to criticise runners/jogger because of their painful looks. I could not understand. Now that I have started (finished week 4 and starting week 5 Monday) I just want to go. Just go out there and see if I can do it. I find it very hard to listen to Laura and have a rest day. I find it hard to do it only three times a week. I would much prefer doing morning and evening every day. it is really like an addiction isn't it? The fresh air, the peace, being aware of your body, the wanting to get there, to prove yourself you can do it...... It is weird. It is like eating chocolate, you just can't stop yourself you have to have it!
It is weird: I only started c25k as part of a... - Couch to 5K
It is weird
Fantastic another convert The runners high is brilliant and you're getting fitter all the time. Well done!
Don't be deceived into thinking that if you run more frequently in the early weeks you'll get fitter. The rest days are actually the times your fitness improves as the muscles recover and develop.
Well done for starting though!!
Ha it is an addiction but a good one. I have been running on and off for a little while with friends and have done a couple of 5k park runs and 5k Mo Run last year then Xmas came along and I stopped!!!! So happy I am starting again and don't want to stop again. I use Nike App which is probably like Laura and I don't know what to do with myself on rest days lol Keep it up well done x
Hi NHS,
I might be imagining it, but I can feel my muscles and joints tingling on the rest days. It's a pleasant feeling and I tell myself that they are strengthening. I tried moving to 36 hours between runs in Week 8 and really felt the difference (negatively).
Stick to the programme and you will really look forward to the runs.
Good luck, you are getting to the longer runs now.
Funny thing you should say that about the "tingling".. I say that I can feel my body "humming" - my wife gives me strange looks when I say it!!!
It is a weird addiction. I do parkrun most Saturdays. The first 10 minutes are the worst and the second 10 minutes are the worst too. Then it goes downhill until the end is in sight. Then it's the best thing since Belgian chocolate
(apologies to Douglas Adams)
Yay!! You have the bug!!! Great isn't it!!!
