W4R1..... was feeling positive and looking forward to this next challenge but....I am feeling really low. Found myself running into the strong wind and got exhausted, I am so sorry Laura, there you were congratulating me for running for 5 minutes and I had to pause the podcast π. I continued walking and when I turned out of the wind, I restarted, but..... I didn't feel proud of myself for doing that. I carried on and then with the last 5 minute run thought that this was it and went for it. Failed again. Bring on Tuesday when I will do it again. If this fails, I'm going to redo W3. π hate failing.
Damn, damn, damn....: W4R1..... was feeling... - Couch to 5K
Damn, damn, damn....
I hate running in the wind!!! Yesterday I did realise that a lot of it was in my head though as on an "out & back" route I could remember running into a head wind three times but only having a tail wind once!!!!!!! You were out there running and you are going to give it another go I am sure I read the current windy weather will die down for Monday and Tuesday so it will be more favourable conditions. Good luck
Ahem....excuse me...how have you 'failed'? You ran. Several times. That is success.
Okay, you may not have done what you set out to do - that's very common and is perfectly fine. (I rarely do what I set out to do!) But think of it as runs in the 'running bank'. Doesn't matter how or when you do them, they all count.
I find it very difficult to run against a strong headwind, it does sap all the energy and motivation out of me so I understand what you say. Then again, seeing the positive - it's building strength and stamina ready for next time!
Best of luck for your next run......and remember....we don't allow the 'F' word on this forum!!
No no no! This is not failure!! Failure is opting for the couch don't make it mean too much, it's so hard in the wind...it's like doing twice the run. Draw a line under and look forward to the next run. Good luck!
Aw Jax , dont be so hard on yourself, chin up Missus !
You can do it, Onwards, always ! xxx
I live by the sea (and also sail). I find it helpful to check current wind on local beacons and the wind forecast before setting off. I then try to find a route where I don't have to run directly into the wind, it makes such a difference. With time, you get to recognise the times of the day when the wind is lowest - usually early morning and evening, so on windier days can find the best time for your run. Tail winds help, but you tend not to notice them!
As a complete novice...that didn't even enter my head, but what you say is quite obvious really isn't it, but believe you me, I will do as you say, check before my run! Really appreciated your advice - thanks.
Do t give up you still went out with the intention and completed. I'm sure Laura struggled we a do at times but do g beat yourself up others are still sat on the couch!!
I never met Mr Wind until fairly recently, and I can tell you I wish I'd never made his acquaintance! Definitely no failure there, I've cut short runs myself when it's been too windy.. you'll crack it next time xx
Good on you.. I constantly contend with headwind and I try to push against it, but sometimes it just eats at your psyche. I totally get it. I'm about to start W4 so just remember, people like me look up to you as you're fantastic inspiration! Keep going.. repeating a week isn't a big deal, I feel like I may have to and I just tell myself it means I'll be stronger and ready to fight hard when the next week rolls around!
Thank you, really appreciated your reply. I started W5 on Saturday, head wind as well, but did it. Everyone is so right, it is al doable at your own pace. Looking forward to W5R2 tomorrow . Good luck to you as well π
