When is the time to change the shoes

Good morning everybody. When is the time to change the running shoes ? Is there any rule ?

The recommendation is between 450 to 550 miles.

Sadly before your feet and ankles start hurting!! Possibly like you I have left it too late and whilst the difference with the new shoes is truly amazing am still trying to get rid of the ankle pain.

I think the mileage count does depend on what surface you run on

Go get some new ones and get back to running.

I think they should be changed when they get dirty or alternatively (according to MapMyRun) every 640K give or take! Perhaps manufacturers could put little wear strips on the sole like they do on car tyres! - Heavens I must patent that one :)

Hmmm. When is the time to change the shoes is a subtly different question question to 'when is the time to buy new running shoes'?

The answer to the second one is always 'Now'.
