Hi all :) Last night's run managed up to 10k pain free!! Just a little knee twinge at the end. Happy as a pig in the proverbial. Will not be taking for granted this lesson learned. Thou shalt not expect this old body to overtrain! Hope you all have a great running week! :)

That's great news Carole, glad you are getting back there.

Thanks Ullyrunner! Just so glad to finally be seeing the light at the end! Been like this since last October and missed my hm in Weston. Feeling defeated didn't come on here much. Lovely to be back, happy and taking it - very slowly! Hope you are getting on well and no more thorns in the shoe! That could have been bad- you must have very thick tread! x

Not quite thick enough to stop it poking through!

On the IC at the mo because of a horrible virus - it's been nearly 3 weeks now so hopefully will soon be over it and getting out there again 😞

Hope you feel 100% soon Ully. There have been some truly awful bugs around this winter. x

Sounds like you are on the mend! Yippee! No rush though, my mistake was to think that after the injury I could just waltz into a 5k. How wrong I was!! Take it slow and go back to those week 5s - at least. Pride comes before a "fall' and my pride really took a beating. Get very very well soon! x

Thanks all. It has been a bad one - but nothing that a new head wouldn't resolve!

Great news Carole, and I agree totally. Ive injured my hip through overtraining and Ive learnt a lesson- I wont be doing that again :-)

Happy Pain- free running, lets hope there are many more to come :-) xxx

Thanks Poppypug - Hope it wasn't a one off but felt really good again! Hope all is going well with your hip and Physio. When you do start running soon Please take it slow. I have just been lecturing UR about it. Hard not to think that you will be less capable of your past achievements but you have to back to basics and good old Laura! x

Such great news Carole. Really hope all goes well from now on. You can't get back on the Injury Couch now because I've got my foot up on the cushions :)

I watched a great old movie the other day for free on Youtube- You will be surprised of the amount you can find on there to watch - Without contracts etc. I think it was this one- Get yourself comfy and enjoy! A special voice and so sad. A lovely movie . The picture is a little dark in areas but worth it!

Well done Carole. Job done! It myst be a huge relief to be back

Thanks so much MW. A huge relief and felt fantastic! I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Not being too dramatic but there were dark days! It is true how much it lifts your mood and spirit. Another positive about taking it slow: I have 3 dogs but one them was very large (food issues!). I could never take them out before as running too long (hard on their hearts). Slowly and progressively Missie has been running with me and becoming the most beautiful English toy terrier she should be! The other two have always been picky eaters but in turn will be dragging them out too! Keep up with the training you have a race to run! :)

I am dog walking today. I have lost all my weight walking him, and WW of course. He has got fatter though as his owners feed him too much. Tsk. He can run for short bursts but it's hard to run in hiking boots! LOL

I would love to have a dog that I could let off the lead while I ran. Dream on! Sigh

Hi MW. I don't let Missie off her lead although I know she would follow but I have an extending lead and this really helps because she can be a little curious (sniffing and stopping) but when that lead comes to its end then she know she has to start running again. Give it a try be good to kill two birds: by you running and the dog walk out the way!

He's a very heavy dog, and he's not mine, so I am more cautious with him. He pulls like a train so I have to give him my undivided attention so I don't end up in the lake or whatever. So I walk him and do my run when he's gone home. I have him to walk today, then a hairdressers appointment then I have to go running. Busy day. The walk into town and back is a good leg stretcher too

Wow! A busy day on those legs!! You will have lovely hair for your run though. My work entails sitting round shouldered on the computer for hours. I shall on my elevensies break be doing this very corny workout. The music is crap (I have sound on mute now!) and very dated but really works for me!I have jut my speed run later (5.30) youtube.com/watch?v=qNPdBnl.... Have a lovely day!
