Slowly but surely in every way I am getting better

Sort of surprised myself today. I had a great run last sunday, and an okish short run on Tuesday. Today i was feeling very lazy and not really wanting to go out at all. I was feeling a bit defeated and wondering if I was kidding myself about this running lark. After reading loads of posts and I hopped onto the marathon running blog (crumbs came off that quickly lots of talk about doing a pace run of 3 hours). I reluctantly put on my running kit and decided I would have a crack at audio fuel easy hour- not to run for an hour, but just to set the pace- as I often run fast and then have to stop. Started my usual random hill route. For some reason the energy was in my legs from the start and I kept at a steady pace and just kept going. I managed to get up most of the hills -out of breath but did not need to stop. My breathing was steady and even and I did feel like I could keep going. I arrived back home after 42 mins- completing my 5k in 39 mins. My average was about 7mins and 30 secs per k (down from 8 mins 13sec). So progress has been made-not fast (I have been down to 35 mins for 5k) - but at least half the route is up hill, and feel this bodes well for my flat sunday run - when i aim to do 3 x 20 mins and at least 8k.

My first 10k run is in two weeks!!

Happy running everyone :-)

Well done. You're doing great towards that 10K.I am still a little in awe of that kind of distance, having only just started regularly doing over 6K. I know it takes time to build up, and it must be quite a mental hill to climb as well.

Keep blogging through the next two weeks as you count down :)

That's what I've found lately, the mental build up before hand is the battle because we're all fine once we're out!
