Completed (just about...!) with streaming eyes, streaming nose and possibly a collapsed lung. How will i run 20mins !?!? I feel i should be completing the runs more comfortably at this stage?

Don't worry about the runs being tough - I never had an easy run during the program. Just slow it down as much as you can. You're ready for it. You've come this far - you're body is prepped. It's just the mind you have to convince.

Well I'm no expert but you're only 24. If you've managed everything so far then you just have to trust Laura. People have sleepless nights, literally, over wk5 r3 but miraculously most of us manage it. No-one finds it easy - and its still tough, and in fact tougher the more you progress - its a mental thing and a commitment. Take it slowly, then slow down some more. I have felt I'm almost running on the spot as I go so slowly. Don't give a hoot about speed or distance - that will come later - its the endurance you're trying to build at the moment. Trust, trust, trust, slow, slow slow and you should do it - given that you've got no underlying health issues. Good luck. Positive attitude - grit and determination.

Don't worry about speed or in fact distance...you can work on those once you are doing 30 minutes.Believe me when I say that I walked quicker than some of my jogging! As Buffy says its grit and determination...you can do it!!!!

Buffy says it all really.

Do a search for W5R3 and you will find that your feelings were/are shared by most people undertaking the programme. You will also discover that most people, despite their fears, succeed and are over the moon with their achievement.

C25k continues to test you right up to graduation, so don't expect any easy weeks, just yet. When you graduate you will be able to take it easy and have whole weeks when you are not doing something for the first time. Stick with it. Slow down. Believe in yourself and learn to grin like an idiot. Good luck, you are doing great.

Believe in yourself, you will do it. Actually the long runs without the breaks are weirdly easier to complete. Often when I'm getting panicky about the longer times I imagine that I can turn round and look at myself just starting out on the run and I say to myself look how far you've come. I give myself a pep talk as if I were talking to a friend (is talking to yourself OK, my husband thinks I'm mad anyways!) but it does help. Stick with the program..........

I dreaded the thought of running for 20 mins - I done it, and it wasn't all that bad. Pshych yourself up, and when you succeed give yourself a treat (chips worked for me!).

I just done w8r1 today and ran 28 mins with little problem. 2 weeks ago I was on w5r3 and thought the 20 mins was impossible. It is all mental at this stage, and by the very fact that you completed your run today show that you have what it takes.

You can do it! I planned a route and then when Laura told me I had done 10 mins (miracle!) I turned round and retraced my steps, I found that it really helped as I knew how far I had to go to be back at the beginning again. I too am sooooo slow that when she told me that I was done on the last run, I couldn't actually perceive a difference in my speed when I stopped running and started walking!

Good luck with the next run!
