Hi. How are you trying to lose it? And how much do you want to lose? Is it a long term loss or a quick loss for something specific.

I've joined weight watchers along side doing the C25k. According to my BMI I need to lose 5 stone - I think I'll look too skinny if I lose that much and at the moment will just be happy to ditch my size 18's for 14's.

And... how old are you, are you male or female, how active are you? Assuming that you are a 30-year old female, your current Body Mass Index shows 'Healthy Weight'.

You can make your own check here:

nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw...

We are a running forum, and can help encourage you to be more active to lose weight.

what do you think?

I think that I don't know your body shape.

You already have a 'Healthy' BMI. When you say that you want to lose another 5kg, I think that you are saying that you want to improve your body shape.

I know that if you start this C25K running program, you may not lose a lot of weight, but your body shape will change. Many people report that running regularly makes them slimmer, more trim, and with better muscle definition in legs and buttocks. Running regularly will improve your fitness, you will look healthier.

I'm male 46 and lost nearly 5 stone I found it comes off randomly, I even put weight on at a few weigh ins, which is quite normal I'm told, try weighing yourself every 2 months and mix your routine with some faster shorter runs even with walking in between so your body doesn't get used to it good luck and keep at it

As juicyju says, your weight is fine. I would tell those people who are telling you to lose weight to go away. Having said that, C25k will definitely help tone you and will very definitely improve your body confidence (and even your overall confidence!). It is a great program for building self esteem. Try it, but please, don't fixate on your weight. You do NOT have a problem! People who are telling you you do are the ones with the problem. 58k for your height would be bordering on underweight. It is much better to be fit than thin.

Hello!

May I suggest that what you need is a target of some form. Me? I was significantly overweight and couldn't run for a bus if I tried. Now I feel I'm 'about right' weight wise and I think I can out run the bus on a good day but my shape (I'm a 52 year old bloke) isn't anything to shout about! Running is my sole form of exercise and my daughter keeps telling me I should do some body conditioning if I want to tone up.... But here's the thing, I don't particularly feel the need.

But I feel pretty good about myself and that's what counts.

To me it sounds as if your issue is not with your weight but your body shape. C25k night help tone you up a bit, but if you want to change your body shape you would be best speaking to a personal trainer who could give you a programming to tone where you want.

If you want all round toning kettle bells are good - and cheap. Pleanty of bids on YouTube and kettle bells are cheap enough - think lidl has them at the moment.

Just be careful. It sounds like you are desperate to look a certain way. Just make sure your diet is well rounded and you don't over do it. Why not visit your doctor to make sure you are not overdoing it?

Not what you're looking for?
