Parkrun in San Francisco

After having weather foreasts that predicted enormous rains. - they didn't happen. So a 3Klm walk in the early morning sunshine led me to the site of the San Francisco parkrun at Crissy Field. It was an interesting site for a 5K run - past a scenically and historically interesting waterfront to almost the base of the Golden Gate bridge. Only a small gathering of about 20 runners -mostly young men. They were enthusiastic and really had little idea about Parkrun as we know it. I imagined that it perhaps felt a little like the original first parkrun at Bushy Park must have been like. It seems to me like US parkrun has a LONG way to go - but it has enormous potential. The sheer numbers of runners on the roads around this part of SFO is mind boggling!!!

Great to hear about your run on Crissy fields Bazza. My daughter lived near there for five years and we often walked and cycled along to GG it used to be an aerodrome. Surprised there weren't more runners as it is a popular place for all kinds of sports. Enjoy the rest of your stay😁

And did you actually run?

Yes I did do the run - came home last but I was by far the oldest runner there. Am on Queen Elizabethnow - trying to run on a treadmill - not easy with the ship rocking and rolling

Yay good for you! You will be able to read about my second go at PR when you come home. I know about that rocking and rolling, I used to work on the QE2, usually the gyms are on the highest deck on board, I suffer with sea sickness too...enjoy your cruise Bazza XX
