Hi loubee33. Hope you get over your cold soon. I started C25k just a month before you but life got busy & I was only doing 1 run per week. Thankfully it's up to 3 per week since December. Still think I'm slow but I'll find out in Park Run maybe this weekend. Would hate any interruptions but if you get sick then you must take all the warnings, rest & recovery properly. Come back stronger. Take heed.
I started at the end of May and I'm still running.
I did a 12K race on Sunday and, although I didn't set any records, I didn't come last and I enjoyed it. Speed is not important. There was an older lady who finished nearly 40 minutes behind me - good on her for doing it. I chatted to her on the start line and she does runs (up to half marathon) in lots of different countries.
I've entered a 10K race in April to give me another target.
For somebody who is 58, was very overweight and had never done running (or done much other exercise for years) I'm quite chuffed with myself. I found the best way to get a sub 30 minute 5K is to do a Park Run - it worked for me. Before Christmas I did a big clear out of my wardrobe getting rid of all my big clothes. I've also had my wedding ring reduced in size. I intend never to be overweight or unfit again. I'm using MyFitnessPal to track what I eat - I've changed my diet as a result so I have a balanced diet.
Hi Loubee glad to hear you're still running. I found the c25k+ podcasts useful for getting sub 30 and the B210K was brutal but got me to 10K in 5 weeks! Now following a myasics plan for a 10k race next weekend eek! Enjoy your running
