I like to run in the morning as I find I have lots more energy then. I also go straight to our town park (where there's not many people about to witness my lolloping) after dropping the kids at school so I'm already out and have no excuse to come home and slob on the sofa. Probably look a bit of a plonker turning up at school in all my gear but I'm past the point of worrying about it now. :)

If you lived where i do the locals would scare you, especially after dark haha . seriously it does depend on the individual , some swear by 1st thing in the morning etc I run after work in the evening in the week and then on a sat morning at the weekend .

It is as much to do with your life style , family etc

We all felt very self concious at 1st so understand how you are feeling ,it is totally up to you :)

Hi there, well done for taking the plunge. I prefer to get out of bed and go straight for a run but it doesn't always work out like that, haha. I've found it best to be adaptable as otherwise I would find too many excuses not to go out. You will soon work out what suits you best and when you find the fewest excuses not to go! Good luck☺️

AM definitely - gets it out of the way. Also, I never have a better offer at 6.30 am, but in the evening it would be easy to accept last minute invitations to meet friends, or to find I need (want) to work late, or want a lazy evening and jump in the bath etc etc. And it's great to start the day with an endorphine rush, keeps me perky for several hours. It can be tricky to get out of bed on a cold, dark morning. Stay safe by wearing a fluoro top and/or head-torch.

Perhaps try both and see which fits best into your life.

I love the really early mornings when no one is around and I can run on the roads as no cars, but you will need to find what suits you and your lifestyle the best :)

Thankyou for the replies :) I have to take girls to school then straight to work so I've either got to get up extra early to do the run or go early evening after work but I find im worn out after the run so think ill have to try and see what works as been off two weeks so back into normal school run /work routine tomorrow

I like the extra early option as then I feel smug all day. And energised.

I only ran in the morning on Christmas Day. All my other runs are afternoon but I'm very lucky that all my work is normally done by 2 or 3pm and I've walked a few kilometres by then so I'm very nicely warmed up :)

Good luck to you

I was the same about running in the dark to start off with. Definitely my preferred option. Don't really care any more but I do prefer it when it's quiet and so far I have always run in the morning. Not sure how well I would fare with an evening run but you will find what suits you best :)

Good Luck Kaja, you will find a way what suits you best.

I always run around half sixish in the evenings after work. I would like to give it a go and run in the morning before work , but I never seem to be able to leave my lovely warm bed early enough . It is something I am definitely going to do though when the clocks change and the mornings are light .

I hope you enjoy doing the programme, it has given me so many benefits, I just could not live without my running fix now ! :-)

Good Luck and all the very best to you xxx

Can do morning or last thing at night, but cannot get a good run if I do it in between! You will find what works for you x

Hi kaja. I started the program after work. That lasted a week though. Between working late and going to school activities for my kids it never worked. Resorted to getting up very early to run then shower for work. My first meeting is a conf call at 730 each day so anytime before that is my time :)

Yup think morning may be best as after getting kids and sorting them out ect think I'll be making every excuse I can not to go out . Hoping not to icy tomorrow or I'll be skating it lol

When I was working I started the C25k programme before work. This worked fine for me as it was April and it was light at 6.30. I had time to shower, have breakfast and then get to work. Now I have packed in work but I still get up and am out at first light. I prefer to get it over and done with and have that lovely post run feeling carrying me through the day. But I have not run in the dark. .. I think it is all about running when it suits your lifestyle. I'm at my "best" first thing.

Well done on getting up early. Even though I am retired and can choose my time to run, I prefer early morning straight out of bed. That way I have no time to think up excuses not to run, and if something crops up later on, no probs!

Good luck with the program and happy running!

I go in the morning about 7.45 when my husband has left for work. It's my favourite time to run.

I prefer to run after work - I find that it's a great way to chill after a tough day in the office and sets me up for a very relaxing evening. That said, I don't like to run in the dark so just can't wait for the evenings to get a bit lighter :(

Hello and welcome :-)

Personally I much prefer to run early morning - and that's not just to avoid people! The air is fresher and I just find it so much easier. It's a personal choice so you will have to see what suits you best.

Good luck with programme, let us know how you get on :-) xx
