Oh, and I should have said that the IPod Shuffle's are tiny and have a clip on the back, so you dont need pockets. The music is quite motivational (well most of it!) and the commentry definitely helps you to start/stop in the right places. You could always just put one ear in if you are worried about the ambient sounds around you.

Just a thought! :)

I'm with Maysie on trying to find a way to listen while not shutting all traffic sound out. I think you'll spend more of your available attention by focusing on the watch and the chart than you will from listening to Laura. Still... whatever works for you :)

Happy running.

You need to listen to the podcast. How else do you know what to do?

Right as always MissW :)

I only put one earbud in when I run with the podcasts or music and keep the volume low.

A cheap armband ipod holder:

Take an old sock, one that strecthes well, cut off the foot [I did say old sock:) ]. Then with the cylindrical part - this should be double the length of the ipod/phone - put it around your upper arm (think of wristwarmers) , fold it in two so that it forms a pocket, with the opening facing up, and slide in your ipod. Just make sure that it is snug enough so that it does not fall out - try to keep it as close as your shoulder as possible as there is a bit less movement there. If it is a woolen sock you can plug the ipod chord thru the fabric, otherwise you may need to make a small hole. Try to jump an shake your arms before you go off running though!

I LOVE that idea! Sounds much better than the strap ones you can buy which are tricky to get a mobile phone in and out of - I want one!
