Is anyone doing C25k in the Hull/E. Yorks area who may be working towards a parkrun ? It would be nice to have some company ! (second try - there must be some fellow C25k students out there ??)

Well I am at the edge of that area and am working my way back to being fit enough to do a Park Run after a bad bout of flu. So far I'm only back up 2.8 kilometres, but think I'll be up to 5K in a week or so. York is my local Park Run but I don't really like it as it's on the racecourse and you can see everyone else streaming for miles ahead of you which I find quite discouraging :-(. I quite fancy trying th one at Filey which seems to be more twisty and turney and through woods. It's a long way from home though. Which is your nearest Park Run?

My nearest one is Hull (although I live near Withernsea). I'm just starting week 5, so there is some way to go before my first Parkrun. I had also wondered about doing the Humber Bridge parkrun.

Gosh I didn't even know about that one. I hope it isn't just backwards and forwards over the Humber Bridge-I have a thing about heights.... I'll look it up -it's less than an hour from me so is a possibility.

Just looked it up and it doesn't go over the bridge but through the country park which looks nice. I fear from the description that it's a bit hilly, but am thinking of giving it a go.

I might give it a try too as it looks a bit quieter than the Hull parkrun.

I've been considering the Humber bridge park run but I've just been too lazy to get up early and a bit scared. 'll take a look at the route

I've done the HB once and really enjoyed it. I don't drive so have to reply on lifts to get there. I can get a bus to East park.

Hi :-) I live in Hull and have done both East Park's Park Run, and the Humber Bridge PR. East Park is flatter while HB is more of a trail run. There is also a PR run at Peter Pan Park near Costello Stadium (this is on grass I believe). From the Withernsea direction East Park is the closest as you will know! It's flat and a good run for a beginner. They explain everything to first timers. It's 2 laps around the boating lake and the new animal enclosure, finishing on the main grass area. Plenty of people run it and you get stacks of support. I'm not sure I am due for a PR in the next few weeks as Ive got my first 10k next month! I only started running in May so it's all very possible! Lol I'm hooked! Xx

Thanks, that's really helpful. I have just done run 2 of week 5 so not quite there yet. Always good to have something to aim for though. Best of luck with your 10k ! xx

I did my first (w7r3) I had to stop for a few minutes walk after my timed run but then I went on to run to the finish. So by the end of week 8 I was running a full 5k. Just take it slow and steady. People rush off from the start line and you soon overtake them because they spend all their energy too quickly! Once you have your longer c25k runs just incorporate them into a PR - you'll be surprised at what you can achieve! Good luck and enjoy! I ran for 90 minutes last night - 7 miles! Yes I'm slow but whoop whoop back in May I couldn't run for the bus! :-) xx Go For It!
