Now listen up knee. See that number up there? Well that's Rignolds running number for Exeters Great West Run. Now you'd better behave yourself over the next two weeks. I'm not taking any bullsh*t from you ok? So none of this "Awww it hurrrrrts" or "Owwwww!" crap. You've got responsibility sunshine and that's to get Rignold round that race IN ONE PIECE. CAPISCE?

That should do it......

Well, Dan's firm but stern words seem to have had some effect. Just went out for a cautious 5k to try the knee out and it was pretty painfree. Patellawise at least. In fitness terms it was awful. Felt like I was back in W7 huffing and puffing along. I didn't consult Mlle Garmin at all all the way round and was surprised to find I had run a 5.50 pace which was a good 30 sec/km faster than I intended, which might explain some of why it didn't feel as easy as I had expected, but I certainly wouldn't have been able to run another 16k at the end of it.

Of course this was just the first outing, and finger crossed the knee remains okay int the morning, I should be able to get some fitness back but with only 2 and a bit weeks to go (and only one till the first cross-country 10k), I am not feeling supremely confident.

Come on Rignold's knee - you've got 19 days to get your arse in gear!

Good luck with getting your knee in gear and your fitness back on track.

:) xx

Come on knee! Sort yourself out. This is no time to go all huffy about a bit of exercise. Pull yourself together!

Hope it all remains good for you over the next couple of weeks. Happy running! :)

Where's that knee when it's needed! On sick leave wouldn't you know it! The only time it's called on to perform and it's up the pictures. Just bl**dy typical! I'm warning you, you knee, either get your act together or you'll be replaced by a newer model. There's plenty more fish in the sea knee wise yer know.
