Oh no only 3 days to go and we are way way off making the minimum donation of £350. I have decided to phone the admin team Friday with our total ( having mega tea and cake morning on Friday) and ask them to decide what they want to do. I don't want to turn up on Sunday all geared up to be told I can't compete. In the meantime have not run since last Wednesday with a hip problem but after treatment feeling bit better so will try a short run tomorrow. I will compete even if I have to walk.
I don't know if it's any help but I did my Tri on Sunday. I got an email Monday morning saying that they would like the donations in by 30 November. I agreed to get £150 pound for them, which I have but there seems to be some leeway after the race as some people would only sponsor me to complete the race, so no payment up front. You could maybe say this is the case for some of yours therefore giving you a bit of time. It's worth a try. Good luck.
Sorry to read this Nelly, but unfortunately, to be boringly realistic about things, it is an increasingly familiar scenario - people just get so many of these requests to pay out for things I suppose. I believe that the term used is "donor fatigue". In fact, I made the choice to stump up the minimum £600 participation fee myself to do the "Three Peaks Challenge" rather than turning to my family and friends yet again, although I appreciate that not everyone can do this.
That said, best of luck with your tea and cakes morning; you never know, it might be a rip-roaring success that pushes you over the finishing line!
Totally agree Pugwash, I have been looking for a charity to run for at the GMR, but they are all asking for a minimum donation of a ridiculous amount of money. I have therefore decided to pick my own charity and then send a donation of my own money. I do not feel comfortable asking friends and family to stump up.

Good luck... I reckon they'll still let you compete (I reckon they'll take whatever money you've raised without a problem!)... Not sure how I feel about the 'raise x or you can't compete' debate... seems a bit unfair really... hopefully it works out okay...
My charity (Sparks) were the coolest ever for my Kingston Run - "just raise what you can... raise awareness by wearing our top... just have fun - every penny counts for us..." ... that's what it should be about IMHO...

It's my fault really as I didn't read the small print but I have a team I am responsible for and I don't want to let them down my not competing so fingers crossed they take my fundraising whatever it is. In my opinion I thinks it's a disgrace that charity ask for a minimum sponsorship on top of a huge entry fee but then I am sure there is so much more behind this argument that I don't know about. Sounds like your charity has the right a Attitude.
