The start of week 8 went well, took on everyone's advice and didn't push to hard, I don't run that fast, 6k, but after 14 minutes went to 6.2k and for the last minute 6.5k, covered 3.85k including warm up and down and feeling pleased with myself, nearly there.
Week 8 Run 1: The start of week 8 went well... - Couch to 5K
Week 8 Run 1
Well done Paul.
I guess those figures are treadmill speeds in kph? (Sorry if I am being dim, but I have never run on a treadmill).
I initially thought you were slowing down, as I run at between 5.5 - 6 min/k using my Garmin pace, so the lower the number, the faster you are going, which is the opposite to the treadmill speeds.
Aargh, too many measurements!
Nearly there!!
Still on the treadmill, I am going to graduate before hitting the road, that should give me the boost I need to get out of the house. They are kph, Laura said something about increasing the pace but I thought I'd get to the halfway point before doing that, at least the end was then in sight.
Well done. That shiny badge is in sight!
Is that 6.2 KM per hour? So, about 3K in 30 mins? I think that's about what most of us do (except Aussie who is not human lol) Not long now until we see that badge next to your name...well done, you'll love running outside.
Yes 6.2 KM per hour, I have an outside route planned. Although I never thought I would I do enjoy running, it's a time that I can forget about everything, except Laura of course!
I'm glad you posted this Curlygurly because my 30 minute run covers 3.85k (walking bit not included) and it is a comfortable pace for me, but I wondered whether it was on the slow side! I'm hoping to gradually increase the distance to 5k after my last week 9 run but I don't know if I fancy the speed/ interval training. Have you tried any of that malarkey? X
I might be wrong but I think we all run at what we consider to be comfortable be it 6 or 5 or 7 or whatever, we are all different. I am not planning on being in the Olympics, I just wanted to get a bit fitter, feel better and I am. 6k is comfortable for me, I have pushed that up a bit but that's only because it still feels comfortable. I think I have read on here that as you continue to run your speed will naturally increase although I guess we all will peak at some point. I guess I am saying don't get hung up on speed, just do what you feel comfortable in doing and you feel you have a bit more to give then try upping it a bit, but I am no expert, that's just how I feel.
