Where do all you lovely people find your fun runs to do. Would like to try a 5k one. Possibly for charity. Been having a little mooch at runners world but think I need a membership of sorts?? Have applied for one 4k run but it's limited numbers. So looking elsewhere now. HELP required x

Not that I have tried it (yet!) but try searching for 'park run' and find your area. They seem to do 5K runs weekly and if you take your barcode after registering, you get a time. There will be others here who have actually done one who, I am sure, will offer better pointers. I think the park runs are free.

I have seen park runs at heaton park in whitefield area near manchester. I was looking for more of a charity run. But I might look into this park run thingy too. Cheers :-)

Hopefully this has something to suit. You could also try the runengland website (I am assuming you are in England)

Well, not that this helps, at all, but there was The Big Fun Run today! bigfunrun.com/manchester A bit late now, but I'll have a look round, see what I can see for you. :-)

I saw this and it would have been ideal!! Should have started this c25k thingy six weeks earlier (sigh). Anyhow I have registered my interest in cancer researches manchester run for 2015 (who knows I may be at a 10k attempt by then!!)

I think you'll be doing 10Ks by next year - you won't be able to help yourself! :-)

Not local to you, or me for that matter, but this looks bloody ace! literacytrust.org.uk/suppor... :D

Seen Marple bridge park run. Heaton park park run. Burnage park run. One starts off at Stockport harriers. Wouldn't that be good. Racing on a proper track (partly) :-)

Of course you should it sounds like a great way to celebrate your b'day. You will be needing the Wally bobble hat for this one and night sights instead of shades!

Very many races are highlighted in the races pages of the following magazines: northernrunningguide.com/ southernrunningguide.com/ and scottishrunningguide.com/

FOUND ONE! Oh and my goodness, what a run it is. As a lover of aviation, I think I'm gonna come across the Pennines (if they'll let me in! :D ) for it. manchesterairport.co.uk/man...

Running. Aeroplanes. Running and aeroplanes. gaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Want!

Great minds.....I applied for this a few days ago but there are only 250 places available. Waiting to hear if I have got in it. Think it's 4k which would be nice and easy (ish) to do :-)

Ahhhhh, that's the 4K you've applied for! It looks absolutely ace, that. I might put my name down too, but I imagine that being well oversubscribed and rightly so too - that's some opportunity. I'll make a note of that for next year if it's too late for this September. It really does look awesome does that; I'd be in my element!

mancbirdGraduate in reply to Miles_Yonder

Yep I thought it would be a nice little starter. Not far from home either. Hope I get in!!

Miles_Yonder profile image

I hope you do as well! :-) It's a decent distance is that; nice and friendly and manageable, and looks like enormous fun too.

Yeah just frustrated that I haven't had a reply either way???!!

Miles_Yonder profile image

When you applied, did they say if there was a date where you'd hear back? They should send an e-mail either way really but maybe they haven't closed the applications yet and won't be notifying applicants until they do?

mancbird profile image
mancbirdGraduate in reply to Miles_Yonder

Maybe. Not had anything yet. Have to wait and see. ??Would be good to get in though.

Miles_Yonder profile image
Miles_YonderGraduate in reply to mancbird

Definitely; really hope you do! Keep an eye out for other 5Ks though in the meantime; I'm always browsing upcoming races online and in magazines so will give you a shout if I see anything that fits your racing requirements. :-)

Do try a park run. It encouraged me to get on C25K. I do one in Ormskirk and it is very friendly. We get a time and I love seeing my time get quicker.
