Gait Analysis

Does anyone know how long you have to run for during a gait analysis? I have been doing some googling and some sites say it can be up to 10 mins. I'm only on week three.... :0)

Nah, only a minute or so. I'd never been on a treadmill in my life so was a bit worried. Don't be, it's nothing. You'll be fine

Mine was for a couple of minutes at the most. You don't have to run fast so don't worry ;)

Thank you guys-phew!! Do i need to wear running gear? I was hoping to go to the place round the corner from my office and wondering if i need to take my trainers etc.

Mine was a min maybe min and a half. You be fine. Ideally go in your old trainers they can see the wear. Don't need to go in running gear. When I went I was in normal clothes

From my experience, It won't be long and it won't be fast. And it will be barefoot (at least mine was) as that way they can see your movement. Ordinary clothes are fine, I just rolled up my jeans. When you're done they will play it back to you so you can see what they see while they explain it to you. Again don't worry about being on careen, it's only from the knee down.

Enjoy your new trainers - new ones are a real treat to run in!

Well it COULD be up to 10 mins if you tried on loads of pairs of trainers and did about 30 seconds in each of them ! But you certainly wouldn't need to do up to 10 mins in one go. They do need to see your ankles though so don't wear skinny jeans or anything you can't roll up easily. Good luck !

I went in my running gear on a Saturday. I ran on the treadmill for about 3 minutes, but only whilst the assessor answered another customer's questions. It was not on camera, but the shop needed the trained guy (who was also the most experienced guy) to watch my running style.

From that assessment, some recommendations were made, and I then ran outside, trying on several pairs of running shoes. This was just around the car-park and no more than 2 minutes per shoe. Of course, I eventually purchased the first pair that I tried on.

It was all very relaxed, I did not feel under any pressure, and it was in my 2nd or 3rd week of C25K. In fact, the sales guy asked me if I was a triathlete... So that was fantastic!

The treadmill was broken when I went for mine, so they did it by getting me to run in the shop - so not very far at all! She also showed me exactly why my old shoes were no good, (I got shin splints on week 2).... the new shoes made an unbelievable difference.

Thanks guys! I'm going to bite the bullet and go after work this afternoon - will let you know how it goes. I did Zumba last night on my 'rest' day and my achilles was giving me alot of gyp throughout, so need to make sure i'm looking after myself.
