Unveiling myself...week 5 lurker!

I wanted to say 'hi all'. I have been taking a lot of inspiration from the posts for some weeks now, but haven't posted until now!

A bit about myself - this is my second attempt at C25k, several years ago I attempted it but was put off by p**s taking youngsters in the park I ran at....silly I know so gave up at the end of week 5.

This time around I have been combining running machine and running outside, and have just completed week 5 run 3 (twice - once inside and once outside just to check I could do it)!!

So, will be moving onto week 6 tomorrow. Overall this time round I have found it much easier to stick with the program and feel motivated to finish. I should make it to the end of week 7 before I go on holiday and then will hope to pick up where I left off when I get back fitness permitting. I did contemplate taking trainers on holiday....but not sure I am that dedicated to the cause yet!!

Hi and welcome! Sounds like you are in the right place to be doing the programme this time around and you have already done the big jump to the 20 minute run, twice, well done:)

Have to say I took my trainers with me to Mallorca when I was on week 7 and 8 and ran in the early morning, it was fantastic, so don't write the idea off.

Welcome! No p*** takers here! :)

Well done on getting through week 5 and best of luck for week 6... it's a bit tricky so go slow.. Go get 'em!

Ha ha, thank you both...great to be involved with you friendly folks here on the forum. I am going to Mallorca too....maybe I will stop making excuses and crack on with the program whilst away after all!

Which part are you going to? I was in Soller but went to the Port in the morning and ran around the bay, on a pavement - not the sand!! It was fantastic.

Welcome! Go ahead and take them. I hear fit people do things like make time for a run on their holiday! Or at least a nice walk!

Welcome aboard you are doing great, If I were you I would take the trainers on holiday you never know when the opportunity for a run might come up ;)

Be warned.... It's against the principle of this community to leave the running shoes at home!

Anyway, welcome and well done. I found the 20 minutes run the hardest to complete, so I am very impressed you've done it twice!

Happy running

Welcome to the forum - you will find lots of support around here. I also found week 5 the hardest to complete - although I think it was much more psychological than physical. Well done for getting through it twice! I think that taking your trainers on holiday is a good idea - its a good way to run in a nicer setting.

Hi and welcome. Brilliant that you completed w5 inside and out. That shows lots of dedication, in fact....the sort of dedication shown by someone who takes their running shoes on holiday. Go on, you know you want to really :)

I just got back from vacation and ran to keep the continuity of the program - I'm on week 5. But I also discovered that running on vacation can be awesome. I was able to run through some nice historic neighborhoods that I otherwise wouldn't have visited.

Hi, welcome aboard ;) So sorry to hear about your first attempt and I know p**s taking, heckling etc has happened to many people on this forum at one time or another. I run at 6am, the main reason when I started was so that no one would ever see me. I am now on week 8 and don't care about people seeing me but I love running in the early morning, it is wonderful. Keep posting your progress :)

Aww thanks lovely people for making me feel so welcome. Run 1 week 6 tonight and felt like I was going to expire at any minute. It was hard work from start to finish, never really got my breathing sorted and didn't enjoy a minute of it but.....I did finish so another 1 crossed off! I have put it down to just being a bad run and hopefully the next one will be better.

You have all done a good job of convincing me to take the trainers on holiday with me, although I'm sure that's something proper runners do, not people like me!

Brilliant well done for cracking week 5 run 3. I found it tough and week 6 as well but you are doing really well. Take your kit on hols - a nice excuse for a few more sangrias or beer to refresh you afterwards. Sounds like you may meet some others on your travels

Good Luck
