10k morun, Leeds Nov 22nd : Just registered... - Couch to 5K
10k morun, Leeds Nov 22nd
I'm registered for it! Really looking forward to it; the medal is just superb. There's plenty of time for training before the race, so work steadily toward 10K and you'll be fine. Well done for going for it!
Oh great stuff you two ! Brilliant cause and you can meet up and have a cuppa tea and a natter Well done ! xxx
Oo thank you! Excited a fellow c25k doing it! I'm running with a good friend & are running to enjoy it rather than a pb for our 1st 10k. You're right, the medal looks fab. We both fancied doing a 10k this year but one not in summer! Wonder if there will be any more of us...
As I understand it, Roundhay Park is a bit inclinous, so not the place for PBs really, but it'll be a bloody good race and lots of fun! I'm sure she won't mind me saying, but AncientMum (AKA GazelleMum and EpicMum) is doing the 5K, so yes, it'll be like a C25Ker convention up there. They won't know what hit them!
It's a good time to do one, I think. I've got my first 10K race in a couple of weeks, here in Sheffield, and I've just this second registered for the Leeds 10K the Sunday after. *gulp* runforall.com/10k/leeds/
The Mo-run really does look so much fun though, a really great laugh!
Good luck for sheffield. Looking at the route for Leeds morun it looks like a lot on grass, so hope its not too muddy. Roundhay park is lovely though lots to do there. I fancy the lincoln 10k too that looks a nice route but its not till March.
Poppypug do you fancy it hehe
Er one slight problem, dont you have to be a man ? Mind you, saying that, in a bad light and if you closed one eye, I might just blag it xxx
No Poppy! Ladies more than welcome and if you wish to partake in moustachery, just paint one on!
Come on Poppy, I'm doing it with my sister ( or possibly 2 sisters) Only signed up for the 5k but now I wonder if I should have done the 10. But Roundhey Park is very inclinous, so bottled out. Come and join us! Pleeeeeeeeeze xxxx
Ah, only the 5k though, there is no way I could do the 10k I will register when I get paid xxx
YeY FANTASTIC!! Definitely only the 5k. Far too hilly for my dodgy knees. Sooooooo looking forward to it. Actually, I use it as my motivation whenever I think I can't be bothered to make the effort to get out there?
I'm not a man! Honest! Neither is my friend, check out the website it activley encourages us lady runners
I have got a unisex username don't worry about it
Have you got a 10K plan you're following, TB?
Best of luck, I'm sure you'll do great!
Err no! Not a formal one at least. What about you?
I'm planning continuing 3x runs a week. Increasing speed x1 a week by 10% every week or so. I'm up to 6k so still a way off. I also do.one shorter interval run which I struggle with. Tgat is usually nearer 3k and i try to do 1x 5k but keep trying to push up my average pace. Since graduating I have found I have reached a plateau and not really improved. Hence plan too a 10k and try intervals.
That sounds good; if I may be so bold to suggest it, throw a hill session in there once every week or two as well. They're great for building stamina. Fartleks are brilliant as well; I use them all the time... runlivelearn.com/what-are-f...
I'm doing a plan I sort of concocted myself. It's actually a Half Marathon plan, as I'm doing the Brighton HM in February, but so far up to 11K and taking it steady, so it covers the 10Ks and beyond.
Will check the link thanks. Meant increasing distance x1 week not speed. Using Parkrun to try and push up av speed. May try hill session insteaf of intererval this week and mix it up. I want to be at appoint I can comfprtably do the distance & enjoy it rather then be really struggling to finish
Hills will help. Run hard up it (as much as you feel comfortable doing!) and either walk or slow trot down; that's what I've been doing and it seems to be doing. I do speed session, one hill session and one long run per week. You will get to the point where you enjoy the whole thing; took about 13 weeks for that to happen with me!
Thank you Tomas will have to let you know how it goes. May have to.try some hill runs as ive only ran on flat or very slight inclines
I'm doing that run too and really really looking forward to it, hills and all. See you there!
Fab stuff! I never got round to buying the c25k shirt but maybe I shall. Great to see all you guys there! Getting paranoid i won't be able to do it with lots of you saying it's hilly but I really need some goal. I've been a bit lost since graduating tbh. Didn't expect to get this many replies it will feel great to be part of something big
