Hi all, now I have graduated I thought I would treat myself to my first pair of propper fitted running shoes. The thing is I have read people going to shops and not getting a good fitting. Could anyone in Glasgow recommend a great shop to get a great pair of shoes professionally fitted.

I don't know about the Glasgow shop, but the Inverness branch of the Scottish chain of running shops Run 4 It, have excellent staff. As it's a small chain (5 branches) I hope the staff have similar training in all the branches. They conduct gait analysis by videoing your feet and ankles as you run on a treadmill. This shows if you under- or over-pronate and therefore which shoes are suitable for your running style. Then they suggest several makes and models of shoes and video you again running in these on the treadmill. Through all this the staff were friendly and helpful. I've bought two pairs of road shoes and my trail shoes from them.
I agree totally with swanscott I highly recommend Edinburgh run4it Bought road and then later trail shoes. Both daughters bought from there too Great staff and service
I went to achilles heel on great western road. But mostly because i knew where it was and didnt want to distract myself hunting for the perfect place (research is my best form of procrastination!)
Others have since told me to go to 'the one on Bothwell Lane'. Which a bit of googling reveals to be Run 4 It. So, there are three votes for them!
Thank you all for your replies. That's great I will go to the Run 4 It.
Run4It have a great reputation in Aberdeen, its where I go for mine these days. Watch out for their sales too as you can pick up a real bargain. They stock Ron Hill running gear which although a bit more expensive than some brands its really rather nice. I love my Ron Hill running cap. Sorry got all excited there and did a huge diversion.
I know nothing about Scotland or shops, sorry.
However I was told to go one size up from a sandal/high heel, etc as the running shoes have extra padding.
My trainers are Karrimor, and were from Sports Direct. I am only on wk2 run1 but they fit beautifully, and are great!!
Unsure if that helps.
