It seems that poaching my son's personal trainer and all the swimming and hillwork are beginning to pay off! I entered my third Park Run yesterday and the time I was given was two whole minutes faster than my previous personal best. THEN, to make matters even better they discovered that there was a problem with the timing devices and all the tail-enders ahd been given a time 2 minutes slower than their real time. Which meant that the time Strava had recorded for me of 36.25 was correct and I had actually shaved FOUR minutes off my previous PB. I know I posted recently that I was going to stop focusing on time and just enjoy my running, but beating myself gives me such a buzz I may have to eat my words. Suddenly next months 10K, which i have pledged to complete in under 90 minutes, actually seems do-able!
On a high!: It seems that poaching my son's... - Couch to 5K
On a high!
Wow that's fantastic I think we'll all be poaching your trainer.
Thank you Ff60! I think the principal of cross-training is a really good one . I do feel much stronger all round for allhen I do that the world will be my lobster (And no, you can't have him. He is my secret weapon)
Fantastic news and well done on breaking your PB. It sounds like you have been bitten by the bug
Well done turnturtle, that's great. It must feel really good to have knocked those minutes off, makes all the hard work worthwhile. That 10k is very do-able, I did my first today, no time posted yet, I will post about it when it comes through later but my aim was for under 90 minutes too- we shall see! x
Sounds like a great run TT! I'm sure you'll manage that 10k next month with ease.
Which 10K are you in TT? Those times look very good - that training is paying off big time!
Thank you aussiegtc. I'm doing the Leeds 10K. I think I'll enjoy it as some people will be walking so I won't stand out as the tail-ender which . I am much more confident I can do it now. My age graded score yesterday was 57.32 which is quite respectable. I'm not out for a silly time but if I can maintain that age-graded score I should be able to finish in about 80 minutes. Let's compare notes!
Woah, fantastic! It's hard to not focus on speed when you know how good you feel when you beat your PB!
Good work and enjoy that 10k next month, you'll smash that 90 minute target!
