1st session with running group tonight!

After weeks of thinking about it went to a new jog scotland running group today and absolutely loved it. Only 4 ladies there but very friendly and great leader who was so encouraging. It's aimed at beginners and those returning to running. Although I wouldn't now class myself as beginner I feel I have slipped a bit lately and found leader had pitched session at exactly right level for me . Also was circular loop up and down and up hill which I struggle with so felt stretched enough. Leader mainly ran at back with me and young girl who had never run before but we were never made to feel we were keeping others back. Picked up couple of tips already and can't wait for next week.

Thanks Jaqs It's daft been so nervous but I knew I would be so disappointed if a) didn't like leader or b) group was too serious But honestly couldn't have been better so am one happy bunny!

Sounds great FF60, good for motivation. There is a free local one for me which I found out about through Parkrun , I may just give it a go! x

Go for it no excuse ! Easy for me to say I know I have been swithering for weeks but so glad I went for it Mine is £2.50 session which I thought was good but free even better.

That is excellent. Can you keep us posted on how it progresses? Lots of us on here would like to try a running group, but are a wee bit afraid of embarrassing ourselves.

With your [hopefully] continued positive experiences, many of us may give this a try.

My wife, whom I am accompanying on her C25K journey, would like to try her local Sweatshop 'Yellow Army' group, but is a tad apprehensive.

Will do SallycycleI do Hope your wife will give it a go I always laughed at idea of joining group/ club and then thought well maybe and then started looking around The posts on here and on FB were mixed -some said club they went to was great and some said theirs was too scary / serious / advanced . There are lots of clubs where I live but some just didn't seem to be what I personally was looking for --just too serious . Then I found this one which also happens to be only 10 mins away It's got to be easy to get to or I know I won't keep it up. This is just some people going running once a week with leader encouraging us. Also I liked the fact he kept stressing it wasn't competition as the the only person were competing with is the one we see when we look in mirror. Hope your wife goes along to Sweatshop group.

Not what you're looking for?
