Hi Everyone
I have been laid up for a few days with external piles and the pain is unbearable. Have been to the doctors who gave me a gel but I am wondering if running is the reason I have this. I have never had piles before.
External piles can be aggravated by running but I've not heard of running causing piles. Are you drinking enough? Taking enough fibre? One possible treatment is to soak cotton wool in witchhazel and place over the areas for a few minutes.
Only just seen this - sad to say that I have suffered from worsening of piles trouble since taking up running. Having researched on the net, I have discovered it's not that rare and is to do with pressure building up on internal structures. Running for longer distances seems to make it worse. Witchhazel is good or Anusol. Also, I believe, doing core work.
Thank you for the replies. I have not run now since Friday as still in a lot of pain and discomfort.
I will take the advice on the core work and pay extra attention to this area.
Many thanks
Gareth
Hi Jediknight - What a relief your post was as I suffered the same after the first few weeks and have never had piles before either (not even when I had my children). I bought some great relief creams from Boots and all is now well. I just pop a little into the area concerned just before I set off (now that the initial discomfort has healed) and it works for me. Hope you'll get better soon. Good luck with the plan x
