Parkrun - 24:08 - I was awarded Parkrunner of the month today!

Hi all!

I haven't run since last Parkrun because my calves have been tight. I decided a complete weeks rest was the best thing to do along with stretching and using a foam roller.

As I shared with you all on Thursday I found out via email that I was the Barking Parkrunner of the month. I was given a voucher for a free pair of trainers from Sweatshop before today's Parkrun and it was nice to be cheered by everyone!

I wasn't sure how the run would go today because my left calf is still a little tight and there was heavy rain off and on today. I decided to wear my running jacket because I had thought I would be running slowly today. However as soon as we started to run the rain stopped and it warmed up a bit so I overheated fairly quickly. I decided to keep the jacket on because I wasn't going for a really fast time. Also as soon as I warmed up my calf wasn't painful so I was able to run without any pain for the first time in about 2 weeks. I didn't push too hard so I was fairly happy with finishing in 24:08.

I might go for another run tomorrow but I will see how I feel in the morning. Happy running all and here is a link to my run:

Brilliant stuff Aftabs. Proud photo too. It may not have been a really fast time but it's still pretty fast ... And you got the Park runner of the month! Glad the calves have stopped playing up. How's the prep for Southend going? James

Thanks James. I missed a week of training so I am behind now. I will have to amend my training plan this evening and maybe now aim for a 1hr 50 rather than a 1hr 45. I ran 10km yesterday in just under 60 mins and will up the pace slightly each week but I only have 4 weeks until the HM now which is why I may need to set my slights little lower.
