Have you been stretching correctly after your runs. I had a problem with hip pain which rest and proper stretching solved.

Have a look here nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/...

I don't believe that there is anyone here who can advise you regarding hip pain -- nor ways to cure it or avoid it. For every running "expert" who advises static stretching, I can point you towards another who advises against it.

If the pain doesn't go away soon, you should visit the medics. It could be just a minor damage caused by the running - it could be something far more serious.

thankyou for the advice. The pain was worse the next morning and has now dulled. i will try the run again and if the pain persists i will seek medical advice. thank you for taking the time to reply. : )

Just type hip pain in the search box and you will find there have been a lot of posts over time. Strong hips and glutes are important for running. If it persists, it's sensible to consult your GP or physio.

I had hip pain a few months ago, slightly swollen too, and just rested until it did not hurt - a couple of weeks - then fine. No problem since. Please don't run when it hurts - you'll only make it worse - give it a rest, and if it doesn't get better on its own, visit the doc... Get well soon!

I completely agree with Yeshe.

In week 8 - out of the blue - I also developed a pain in the hip with some swelling (and later some bruising) and took a couple of weeks out. When it stopped hurting I gingerly started back on the programme and continued without any further problems. Take a rest and hopefully you'll be OK soon.

Best wishes
