Don't go too fast, start slowly and gradually build up to your comfortable stride and speed. Better to take it steady and finish it. You can always speed up the last couple of minutes if you've got extra to give towards the end. Good luck, you'll be fine, you've done the preparation so have faith in the program and yourself. :)

Thank you Oldgirl (love your name) I will be running early in the morning (we are having a heat wave here in Dublin ) I will surely take your advice and post tomorrow if I survive

I think Oldgirl has given some great advice there. Depending on the time of day you run and your stamina maybe take a couple of jelly babies with you, they could give you a wee boost in the last five minutes. the programme has prepared you for this though so just take it nice and easy. Good luck !

I've just done this run a few days ago. Take it slower than you think you need to. Your body will be able to do this, as you ran 20 mins last week, and it's only a bit more than that. Go early in the morning if you can when its cooler. Try not to clock watch, the time goes quicker that way - just concentrate on the scenery - getting to the next tree, then the next lamppost if you feel yourself flagging. I also found breaking it down into 5 minute runs helped. You will be fine - you can do this.

Of course you can do it. Every run is training for the next run. You did the last one....you will do the next one. Good luck.

absolutely you can, as oldgirl says, go slow then slower, the aim is to finish not to finish in a set time, good luck

So - last week you probably thought you couldn't do 20 mins but you did. Take it steady you'll be fine.

I am in no way experienced, and until 7 weeks ago, hadn't ever done any running, but yesterday I finished week 7 and will go onto wk8 on monday. For me I've stuck to a slow steady pace, but I try to go as long as I can without looking to see how far into the time I am....I know I certainly hope that when I look, I am over 10 mins in. There on in, I look to milestones, half way, 2/3rds 3/4s. I sometimes find myself thinking, this is hard, I don't want to keep going, but often find that knowing I have got each marker under my belt and pushing to the next, and before I know it, I'm three minutes from the end andmy stubborn streak kicks in and there's no stopping me then!

Slow and steady! Good luck and enjoy :-)

I agree with all of the above, especially running early morning - the air is fresher and cooler, it really does help. I won't run at any other time.

Those extra 5 mins are hard, but believe me, if you can do 20 you will do 25 - and you will be amazed at yourself!

Good luck.
