At the tender age of 63, I completed Run 1 of Week 1 yesterday. Last year I walked the Race for Life. This year jog it? I have started running again to help my bones grow old gracefully. C25K IS GREAT,

Old bones will run!
Good on you!! I am 67 - started running 4 months ago and am now in my last week of this C25K. I will run non-stop for 30 minutes in my local Parkrun next Saturday. I have NEVER ever been able to run - even as a young'un. Always used to get side stitches. I have not had one single stitch or any other problem ( apart from some shin splints early on and which went away after a while) . My first run was 30 repeats of 15 seconds or running and 45 seconds of walking. Looking back now , I cna see that I have come a long way. My contemporaries are now giving me strange looks and warning me about ruining my knees, telling me that I have lost weight and not to lose too much etc - and frankly I can see that they cannot imagine doing what I am doing . But is has been completely painless for me.
Well done Boomer. You are in good company here. There are loads of older runners here, all having a great time and ignoring dire warnings about our knees
Time will tell I suppose but I definitely feel more mobile than my friends.
keep up the good work. Take your time and finish the programme safely
Well done runboomer! And 63 is the new 43 - never forget that.....
Well done for getting started on the programme. Lots of more mature runners on here. I've signed up for R4L this year and, at the moment, plan to jog some of it and walk some of it - I'm on W7 of this programme. Anyway, good luck with the programme and best wishes to you.
Thanks to all the messages...keep on keepin on!
