Hi, my advice is to go slow and steady (i can run 5k now 2 months after graduating but it takes me 45 mins), the more runs you do of some distance the more confident you feel, trust the programme, it works! Well done for getting this far, stay calm, in control and don't over do it and you'll be fine. Looking forward to seeingyou with your graduation badge, you can do it!

This will be my next run and like you were I am feeling very apprehensive as seems a big leap. So interested in reading comments from fellow C25K's.

My run 1 on week 5 didn't feel that good, maybe one of those days? but on run 2 i was up for the 8 min challenge and found it a good run and felt like real progress being made. So though i was apprehensive at the leap to 20 mins, with encouraging posts on this site i found i could manage it and it was not too bad at all! go for it, i'm sure you will be fine!

Well, we all have good runs and not so good runs, but it sounds like you had a GREAT run today, well done!

In some ways there's no way of telling how easy you'll find the next two runs, but keep trusting the programme - it's got you this far and it's designed to build up your stamina and confidence. 4 weeks ago you'd never have thought you'd say that what you did today was "easy" - so chances are you're ready for the challenges you'll face in the next two runs, and you'll feel great when you manage to complete each of them too :)

Agree with Natalie especially about just trusting the prog . Once I was doing the longer runs I started making up ' to do lists' to keep my mind of how long I still had to run . It can be anything to what shopping you need to where you would like to go on holiday . Anything really to stop you thinking about how far you still have to run Once you have done your 1st 20min run you will feel fantastic Good luck

I have W5R3 tomorrow. I found that R2 was not as bad as I was thinking it would be. In fact after the first 8 minute run, I was recovered and ready to go again by around half way through the recovery walk so obviously something's working. Like others have said, just follow the program and have faith in yourself.

I am due to do W5R3 today, unfortunately we live in Dorset and the wind is gusting at 70mph out there so may have to postpone if it doesn't drop. Not sure I can manage 20mins in those conditions! Run 2 wasn't nearly as bad as I feared though.

If you have got this far, then you are almost certainly ready for all of Week 5. Run 3 is a good step up in time I know, and you aren't the only one to have felt like you do about it.

Just take it steady, and you will do it. The program is well designed, and this step is just one of those realisation steps that you can now do more than you can think.

If you are worrying about the duration, then try thinking about the 'waypoints' along the route as you run, but think of them one at at time as you go along.

You'll do just fine, probably better! :-)

I did this run on Friday, I got a bit cocky on the first 5 mins and paid for it later, need to always remember to go steady!! I'm quite up for the 8 minutes, purely because there's such a long walk inbetween! As for week 3, I'm apprehensive but can't wait. Thinking of the gigantic sense of achievement that will feel like makes me almost want it to be my next run

HI,

Everything is easy as long as you want to do it! I was a person who could not run for 2 minutes when I started C25K and now I run 15K non stop! So that is how easy it gets. Go for it...you can do it! Good luck

Wow !! 15k! How long does that take? I have been running/walking the same route along my local canal since starting the programme. It is a 20 mile return run but I only ever see a small portion of it. I completed Wk 5 run 3 Friday and I surprised myself how I did it. Would love to think one day I could complete this run. I am doing the C5k is it the same as C25k up the 5k?. Good luck to Kizza, Trust us you can do this. :)

That's great! Trust me, you will feel even more amazing after finishing all of week 5 - the achievement totally outweighs the pain at the time! Just don't go to fast to start with and tire yourself out

Good luck!

Well done on a good run! I'm at the same stage, having done W5R1 yesterday. I'm doing R2 tomorrow morning and am trying not to think ahead to R3, as it's a bit scary!

It's great to read everyone else's posts as it makes me feel as though I can do the longer runs. I've surprised myself by really enjoying this and am even looking forward to the prospect of doing the 5 to 10k when I eventually graduate. I've had a few 'bad' runs, where I feel as though I'm struggling but coming through those makes me realise that I can push on through runs that are difficult in the future. And if I can't, I can just repeat them!

Good luck for R2. You can do it :)
