I'm worried about week 2, I really struggled with the 60 seconds and I know it's only a little bit more but I'm worried! Thinking I might repeat week 1, did anyone else repeat weeks?

Thanks : )

Hi, i repeated week 1 for my own confidence but didn't need to repeat any other weeks, my best tip is to go really really slowly...if you need to basically walking pace but with a jogging action to get used to it. It is the only way i made my way through the programme but is just as beneficial. I can jog 5 k now (very slowly!) and you will be able to as well. Well done for making it this far, keep running and keep posting. :-)

I thought I was dying on week 1!!!! But am now on week 4 and did n't repeat. Just slow down and go for it..but repeating is fine anyway...yo know your own body best and let's face it, we are not sitting on the couch so must be good!!!

Congratulations! I would repeat w1 until you feel you can cope ok with it because otherwise you might feel put off when it gets a bit tougher week 2. I went out 5 times on week 1 as i had a couple of times when i couldn't use the podcast so i wanted to make sure i had done the run 3 times. Now on week 2 and haven't actually found it any harder as you get 2 mins to recover. Good luck!

Hi smurfette, I would say repeat a run and see how it goes. Slowing down might be the key, pace is what most of us struggle to get right at the start. I repeated a run in week 5 and week 9. We all have good and bad days. Welcome to the programme and I wish you all the best :-)

Hey Smurfette, go for it at your own pace. You get there eventually. How about you do two more of the Wk 1 runs and then move up so you don't feel you're not improving. I repeated weeks when I felt I had to and moved up when I knew I was capable. Take it at your own speed, two weeks for each one on the programme if necessary and you'll still graduate before summer.

Thanks, I didn't realise quite how bad my fitness is!! But I've taken the 1st step & I'm not giving up, I even went out in the rain after work this week I shocked myself by wanting to go, and felt so proud for doing it!!!! Lol

As you all say if I keep going it will get better. Thank you so much the support is great. : ))

Hi, like Kalypso above I did 2 runs before starting the NHS version of c25k and so did 5 runs in W1. Like you I was nervous about the longer run I W2. The first efforts at 90 seconds were noticeably longer but by the third effort I didn't notice. What makes it easier than expected is that now you have. 2 minutes recovery time - and even better is that it is only six runs as opposed to the 8 in W1 :). Good luck with what you decide and let us know how you get on. I'm doing W3 this week - oooh errrrr!

If it helps any the first time I ran for 60 seconds I thought I was going to die....literally.......my legs felt like lead and I was heaving big heavy breaths to try and draw some air into my lungs....it was NOT a pretty sight! But I kept going and trusted the programme and even when I got to week 2 i was skeptical again but kept going and I found I could do it. If you having trouble try jogging a little slower as the problem might be your going to fast but you don't have to move on straight away that the good thing about the program is that you can repeat until you feel ready...there is no right way to do the program xxxx let us know how you get on xxxx

I can only add to the good advice other members have posted - do what feels best for you, there is no shame in repeating a week if it gives you more confidence. I re-started the programme last Monday as hadn't run for some months and I have also just finished W1. I already know what is is like to do W2 so will go straight on to it this time round. Keep us all posted as to what you decide and how you get on. Good luck and best wishes.

Well I done it, run 1 of week 2 ! Decided to stop worrying & just go for it, I could always stop if it's to much & I'm proud to say I managed, was hard but actually my breathing was a bit better, that's what I was worried about most, and it was ok. Feeling very proud of myself, thank you to you all for your comments. : ))

Excellent, well done. I've just done my 2nd run if Week 1 and I was out if breath even when I was doing the warm up walk! Did it all though and felt that I'd really achieved something. I will follow your example and after my 3rd I will give Week 2 a go. So thanks

Slow and steady is a must for me - better to complete the distance and worry about being quicker once you are at a higher fitness level!
