Can someone advise me about calf pain please!! I have developed a very tight right calf that doesn't ease off when running----if anything it gets worse if i try to continue!!! I don't want to stop running as i have already had to take a few weeks off due to illness and i really want to progress - any advise????

Rest. Rest. Rest! Stop running for a while cos it's the only way. It will calm down. I had a similar thing once and it went after a short while. I think it's the muscles saying "oh I say! I'm getting bigger and more

Muscular - check me out!" So you must let your body even itself out.

Anyway that's my view!

I would try R.I.C.E Rest - Ice Compression - Elevation

I have also used a foam roller on my calves and you can wear compression calf guards (similar to flight socks) better to rest for a few days rather than cause more serious injury, you could always try cross trainer/cycle/swimming which will keep up your fitness but with less inpact. Hope you feel better soon

You could try the Step Drop Stretch, you stand on the edge of a step with your heel hanging over the edge and you slowly raise on to your toes and then slowly lower your heel below the level of the step.

I had this starting week 2 of the program. No matter how much rest I got it didnt improve. I tried ice, rest, support, deep heat etc, nothing helped. I just took each run at a time, and never pushed past what I felt my leg could do. I put mine down to weight and just getting used to running. Its taken me until nearly 2 weeks past graduation not to get cramp or pins and needles. Only you know your own body, listen to it and do what you feel is right. Wishing you lots of luck :)
