Essentially, just keep trying. The first couple of weeks are the hardest of all in my opinion. Once you have cracked them your 90% of the way there. Keep going, there is no rush, especially if you are already losing weight.
Congratulations for keeping it up so far.
Even if you walk for 30 mins it is better then nothing! Get some heel inserts and decent running shoes. Do not run too fast, Keep going the more you exercise the easier it gets,
Hei! it's fantastic that you are doing this
and don't worry, there are plenty of us that have had to do week 1 more often than once
you are doing a fantastic job, just keep on going, and remember, it is okey to slow down the speed too
about your fallen arches - you can get support for those - you can either get insoles that are mass produced and have some support in that aeria - or you can go and see a specialist and see how much of a support you actually need - and if there is MORE that you might need than just a help with the fallen arches - wich is quite common
I highly recomend seeing a specialist at some time - it's amazing what a trip to them can help much
Yep I agree as above. I'm overweight too and have found it a big struggle. First time I admitted defeat but this year I decided I was going to do it. It doesn't matter how slow you go, how many times you repeat but just know this one thing - you CAN do it. I've recently seen a podiatrist - National Health the doctor referred me and am getting all kinds of help and insoles. Keep on jogging
The best thing I ever did running-wise was to go to a good shop to buy some running shoes. They did gait analysis and showed me the resulting film where I realised I ran like a 'dishing' horse! I also needed support on the inside of the foot and it turned out I needed a man's shoe rather than a 'ladies' because I have such a broad foot. I agree that a podiatrist could help you, but when he's done with you get your gait analysis done and invest in a good pair of shoes. It's well worth the cost to avoid injury. I cant believe the difference mine made. Its like running in foot-gloves!
I started out at about 5 stone over what I am now. The others are right, it doesn't matter how long it takes you to crack week 1, just keep trying.
I figured it was better to think in terms of stages rather than weeks in the early days. As well as good shoes, I got hold of endomondo pro (not premium) on my phone and broke the first 3 weeks into stages I could cope with so that I still got a sense of achievement.
It's amazing you're participating in the program and you should congratulate yourself for very run you do. I think you're wise listening to your body and remaining at week 1 for as long as you need to. The advise re running shoes sounds very sound and I'm going to take personal action in relation to this. Good luck & please keep posting so we can share your progress
Thanks for all you help.I brought a good pair of running shoes along with gel arch supports. I'm hoping this is going to help if not a trip to the Drs to see ehat he recomends.
