Was tipping with rain but I still went out. I so want to do this. The sixth minute is the hardest for me. I keep thinking how the heck am I going to move up a stage?

Well done on getting out there in the rain! That's commitment for week 1
If you are managing to do the runs (even despite a hard sixth minute) then when you done week 1 three times you ARE ready to move to week 2. You may not believe it at the time, but you are. If that pesky sixth minute is so hard that you have to walk it then (I would) repeat week 1 until you have run it (slowly, beetroot faced etc) 3 times.
I just did week 8 run "4" this morning (I'm making a comeback after a long break from running) because I took a short walk break in run 3.
Hope that helps and good luck with the program - you've made a wonderful start!
Well fine for going out in the rain!
I felt the same as you in week one and today ran for 20 minutes!!! (Am still grinning!)
You can and will do this just trust the programme. On week one it seems totally unthinkable that you could ever run for twenty minutes but in just a few weeks time you will be doing exactly that.
Keep posting on here as I have found massive support and encouragement and you will too.
Keep going
You will absolutely do it. And your motivation is clearly there, given that you went out in the rain. And well done to Runvicarrun too, because that 20 minute run is our biggest mental hurdle in the whole programme, i think. You can tell from the way everyone is so pleased to have got over it! I know I was really nervous beforehand - ridiculous as no-one even knew I was trying it, and if I didn't make it I could easily have repeated it without telling anyone. Sometimes we create all sorts of excuses in our heads before we've even got worn out with running - predicting defeat for ourselves. So it's a nice surprise to get through it all and realise you can actually do this running thing! Just keep plodding on...
Well done for running in the rain. I have found that my body could usually do what Laura asked (slowly!) but that sometimes my mind told me I couldn't. I did my graduation run tonight and spent the 2nd 5 minutes having to persuade myself that I could and would run for 30 minutes. And I did it!
Running is just as much mental as physical - but also the rewards are physical and mental. Keep up the good work.
I found week 2 easier than week 1, and then once I had finished week 2, I found week 3 to be a bit harder but totally achievable. It was all those short bursts. I found it easier to run a bit longer, than to stop and then start again. So stick with it - and you'll be surprised at how quickly you do progress. Slowing down does help with the leg pains.
Thank you for the encouragement. I'm so pleased that I kept going even though I was rather pink at the end and almost arguing with laura but I did do what she asked.
Well done...look at you being all hardcore - not letting the rain stop you. The stopping and starting I remember seemed endless - I hadn't realised intervals were so hard but they are great training and its amazing how they do prepare you for each of the next stages
I've done Wk1 R2 today too! I'm the same - I CAN'T imagine running for longer and keep thinking there's no way I'm ready for week 2! Glad I'm not the only one. The encouragement from people on here is great. Some of them are running for 30 minutes who couldn't even do the whole 8 runs in week 1 so there's real hope there! Good luck.
