Stamina building (surprisingly) but Agh!! The shins. Any advice?

Out there today with the best of them as they congregated for the Swansea 10k. Well you have th start somewhere. And I have my own little triumph having made it into Week 3.

A triumph indeed - well done! Bad news about the shins - sorry, can't offer any pearls of wisdom I'm afraid. Good luck for run 2!

Hi,

I had pretty sore shins to begin with, but they stopped around week 4/5. I did get some properly fitted running shoes at around that time, but I suspect that it was really just a case of building up more muscle. Give it another couple of weeks and see what happens.

I think it also helps if you try to land on your mid-sole rather than heel if possible.

Thanks for the advice. I was surprised that Laura said to make sure your heel hits the ground first.

Shins better today w3r2. Note to self: Avoid shopping in high heels on the rest day :-)

I've had shin problems this week...frustrating as my top half seems happy to keep running but my legs are complaining. W4R1 today so we'll see how I get on!
