i have missed a few weeks after graduating before the summer what with school holidays and work commitments and have missed it terribly but tonight i am off to join my local running club to see what its all about, I love the solitude and quietness of running on my own but have read so many positive comments about park runs and clubs thought it had to be worth a go, so wish me luck i suppose it will be like marmite (excuse the pun) i'll either love it or hate it. Roll on 6pm - I will report back later

I'll be very interested to hear how it goes. I guess there are many different types of club. I ran as a teenager in an athletics club and have horrible memories of pushing myself to feeling sick - and have no desire to go there again. But if there is a club for social fitness and support - well, that sounds a completely fine idea.

yes NewlifeLil, that was my thoughts on clubs, i see them in little groups every thursday around the town where i live, but I am happy to report it was nothing like that it was relaxed and informative, they seem to use a similar structure to that of C25K with interval training and most people had done some running upto 5K, it was an introduction to the club the idea being you attend the beginners course which is supported by the coach and runners from the club then if you wish you can move into the main groups who go out according to their ability. But the bit I found most useful was the tips on running gear, nutrition etc, those things us new runners all struggle with. Everyone was friendly about 15 people in total and its a nice thought that you get to know a small number of the group before you join the more experienced runners.

So juicyju, I am pleased to report that i did enjoy it and it was just what i needed to reignite my enthusiasm since finishing the c25K.
