Well done you, replacing the smelly cigs for clean fresh air, all i can say is take your time, do your best and you'll get there. You have made the first step, there is always support and help on here so don't be a stranger.

Good luck and welcome to the C25K family x

It was being unable to walk up a mountain after I had started smoking that made me quit... huge respect to you - and yes, encouragement. Even if you don't 'feel' like it, just set out. My last run was tough, but having done it I just repeated 'well done you, well done you' to myself and it made me smile and keen to get that satisfaction again.

And keep coming on here for encouragement and support - it does work!

Thank you for your encouragement.

I like the idea of repeating 'well done you, well done you' to myself.

Good to know there are people out for to support each other.

Off to the gym again tomorrow!

Thanks again.

I started this programme on the 13th June 2013 as a smoker. I graduated on the 19th August a non smoker. Admittedly I had only quit 6 days before that, but hey - I'd quit! Not only is this programme amazing for turning you into a runner, it is the sole reason I have quit smoking, with what I can only describe as ease. I accessed the NHS Quit service and obtained NRT on prescription, but my love of running and the effect it has on me hugely out-weighs the need to smoke. Congratulations on quitting, good luck with the programme and don't give up. It is so worth it. (Oh, and post a lot on here. The people are amazingly supportive!)

As an ex smoker of many years now, I have found that this has improved my lung capacity, I feel as if I really do have a pair of lungs! It is tough going at first, but stick with it, and celebrate any improvement and achievement!

It is the morning fag that is the hard one.

But I will stick with it, thanks for the encouragement x

Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS FOR STOPPING SMOKING AND FOR STARTING RUNNING.

I can't speak as either a smoker or ex-smoker, but if you can, why not try a morning run? I find it the best time of day. The air is clear and fresh, and it really sets you up for the day.

Keep us posted, and if you need any support, you will find us all a decent and supportive bunch. Remember, you are NOT alone.

OMG, a double challenge.

Very best of luck, and keep blogging about your exploits. I think in a couple of weeks you are going to start feeling really different

I can say the early morning runs are great, for me at that time of the morning ( 05:30am ) you smell everything. I smell the plants that are in full bloom, the smokers standing at the bus stop or ahead of me, also the drunk kicking over the bins, its great hahaha P.S. I live in London hence the early morning drunk hahahaha. Stay focused and keep running and congratulations on taking the first step to stop smoking.

I live by the river in a little village, so perhaps if I do manage to drag myself up for a run I'll see the swans and ducks. Sounds good.

YOU CAN DO IT.

I would recommend seeing the NHS quit service I think that really helped when I quit three years ago.
