almost last run of August

almost last run of August

well club run tonight, no run on Monday, because of the Bank Holiday (lightweights!) So I began the B210K on Tuesday instead.

It went really well tonight. Thanks to OldNed mentioning his last run of August this is my almost last one, I intend running Thursday Friday and Saturday! (15 runs this month)

The club were all really friendly (when are they not:-)), but my pacers were not there :-( I still nimbled round and realised that even without them there I have shaved over 10 minutes off my 5.2K time to just under 30 minutes! Of course tonight the club runners were all doing the 10K and Magic Mile runs so went past me several times :-) I was even invited to the Great North Run (not a total embarrassment then?) However that-- is-- too much for me at the moment, I will however be there at the finish line in my green OXFAM T-shirt cheering them all on.

Guess that if I do this at my own pace instead of pushing myself all the time it is actually really enjoyable and something I can see myself doing long term with or without a club or Laura :-) <3

  • Wow, tor, what a great pace! Very impressive. You are so lucky to have a running club where you are, they sound great.

  • Thanks Scipio, they are great I'd be lost without them, wish you could come join us :-)

  • I wish I could too!

  • Ah well done that's fantastic!!

I recognise the millennium bridge! Which running club is it you've joined? I live in the NE too so just wondered if it was close to me? It sounds great to help keep you motivated and improve your PB!

  • Hey Jefna, they are the Sweatshop Running Community, they are a shop based in the Metrocentre, the run leaders (Michael, Niyc and Aly) all work there, Niyc set up the Park Run at Exhibition Park and Aly is a champion runner! we run on Monday at 6:45 round Quayside from the Hilton, and Wednesday same time from Claremont Road Car Park round Exhibition Park. You can join online (it's free, no catches) and you get a little card to be stamped at each run which you get little gifts every so often and a Garmin Forerunner 610 after your 50th week :-) Have a look online please would love you to come join us :-)

  • Ah it sounds great tor41!!

I'd love to try it but not sure I'd get there in time, as I live in Northumberland!

Do you have to commit to every week?

I know who you mean by Aly! I've seen her twitter account, she's such an inspiration!

  • they really are, they have helped me so much I can't say :-) and no it's a kind of drop by when you can and you will be made welcome :-) Aly is great she has run with me a couple of times to help my pace and stop me feeling lonely there at the back :-)
