Wednesday is my 'longer run' day at the moment, when I aim for at least 5K and sometimes further. I was away on a walking holiday last week in the French Alps, and my Monday run this week (2 miles) felt like hard work. Today I started out and felt pretty good from the beginning, so I decided to go with the flow. The first mile was fast (for me!) so I relaxed the pace a bit and decided to do a 5K+ route. I had to stop and walk for a few yards, coincidentally just as I reached the 5K mark, but managed to carry on and ran the rest of the way to my usual cool-down walk spot. When I checked my Garmin 10 I found that not only had I recorded my longest run ever (4.3 miles), but also my fastest mile and my fastest 5K to date. Chuffed doesn't begin to describe that feeling!

Well done....but come on, spill the beans! What were your times? I find statistics annoyingly fascinating.

Warning - I'm not a fast runner! The mile time was 11:33, the 5K was 37:45. The overall time for the run was 53:44, but that didn't bother me as I was just hoping to keep going. I have run faster parkruns, but when I have remembered to wear my Garmin they have invariably come out as a few metres short of 5K,.
