How the old place has changed ..

Actually I posted last week that I was back ... and then failed to actually do anything for another week. And now I've come back and the place has changed Not sure I like the new look yet. There must be posts about it somewhere. I'll have a look in a mo.

Anyway, first run after a 6 week break completed. And boy was it hard. I set out thinking well, if I have to alternate 5 minute runs with 5 minute walks I'll be happy with that. I got off at quite a cracking start. It felt really good and I felt liberated to back out there. :)

After 5 minutes I still felt ok so kept going. At 10 minutes I was starting to struggle a bit; the lungs were starting to complain so I brought the pace down a bit and recovered my breath.

Pushed on. Got to 15 minutes and not even half way yet. Oh this is starting to hurt. The muscles at the tops of my legs (groin area) started to hurt. Ok, if I have to stop at 20 that's not too shabby for a first time out after all this time.

Laura's words of encouragement played mentally in my head. Just keep going. Do not give up. You can do it. You're doing really well.

30 minutes done. Only 10 to go. Nearly home. Just the last couple of roads to go. Just to the postbox, ok, maybe to that dustbin there. And yes! 35 minutes completed.

Have to say the last 20 minutes were at a real snail's pace but I made it. I might hurt in the morning but I did some stretches so hopefully I'll be ready for the next time out.

I have to say, it feels great to be back! (although can someone please turn the heating down outside please?)

Welcome back! One of the new oddities is the tags - I lurve your 'AT-10'!! Very funny! I'm sure we will often want to do searches on 'AT-10'. I suppose 10 minutes in does tend to have great significance for many of us. And why did it pick out 'head' from all those other words. Very mysterious - fun though, in a weird sort of way. :)

Hi!

I have to confess that I didn't consciously add the tags. It must have done it for me and I didn't notice before posting. I have absolutely no idea what they mean! LOL! :)

Guess I better get to know this new forum layout a bit better!

It doesn't appear to be possible to choose tags anymore - they are auto generated according to some weird and wonderful computer plan. Some of them are very funny. And, at the moment, if you click on one, you get all the posts from all the HeathUnlocked communities that have been given the same tag. Which sometimes gives very odd results. :)

Well done for getting out there in the heat after your break- I have only done 30 mins so far but think I might try and do the 35min podcast tomorrow

Thanks Hules. When I did my first park run a couple of months ago, 35 minutes was the time I made it round in. So now I go out for 35 minutes each time and hope to do 5K. Not sure I quite made it this evening. Once I'm back into the swing of things, I plan to have a go at the 5K+ podcasts.
