I have noticed on this forum that a lot of people worry about what serious runners think, my question is why are we so worried about what they think? My private theory is that they only look serious because they are as knackered as me and you
Any thoughts?

I was thinking about this the other day- what does a 'runner' look like? Why do we assume that the slim, composed looking people we think are 'serious runners' actually are? How do we know that they aren't collapsing around the corner? Or that they weren't in exactly the same position we are now 6 months ago? When I'm out running, I very rarely have thoughts about the runners I see except for 'I like her t-shirt', 'he's doing well', 'I'd kill for a bum like that' etc. Why do we assume that the 'serious runners' are thinking negative things? I think it's far more likely they're thinking 'good for you.'
It is the look of pain on so many 'runners' faces that has put me off running in the past! Now I know they really are in pain when they are doing it but probably high as a kite when they stop!
From what I've read on these forums, most of us doing the C25K are doing it for the good of our own health - can't get more serious than that. So, I vote that we all consider ourselves 'serious runners'. Good luck with the rest of your runs.
Doesn't matter how good you are, if you are not knackered at the end of a run you aint trying hard enough!!!!! ha ha ha ha................. sorry - couldn't resist.
