knee pain: just starting week 7 of C25K, stamina... - Couch to 5K
knee pain
I have suffered from this for some time and it is only starting to ease. So what I did was to
Listen to my body and rest for longer if I needed to.
Got some SKOL knee supports
Followed the knee strengthening exercises on the strength and flex part of this site
we are all different, but I hope this helps in some way
cheers for that, i have started leaving longer between the runs and its definitely helping, will try the other stuff as well.
As alcopop says, knee strengthening exercises and support may well help, but more fundamentally, are your shoes right for your pronation? Have you had this checked?
If they hurt, STOP. It is better to avoid injury than to try and repair it.
I nearly had to be airlifted off Helvellyn once due to my knees. After several weeks of excruciating pain I went to the doctor, had a referral to a physio who did ultrasound treatments, and I have been absolutely fine ever since.
yeah a friend mentioned my shoes as well and that i get them checked, which i will do.
cheers
I struggled with pain in my right knee for a few weeks. In the end, I took about a week off, intermittently wearing a support and applying a bit of heat. The rest helped and it's eventually come good. That pain was the only pain I got at the time - never any calf/muscle pain. Since then I've increased my distances and my whole body hurts! Maybe I've still got the knee pain but the fact that everything else hurts as well means I don't notice!?
