As the runs have got longer ive noticed I'm getting sore around my shoulder blades. I have no idea what's causing it (bad posture/ style, or just unused to arm position) or how to get rid. Any ideas?

Sore shoulders- any advice?

I did too much lifting of things early just after I started on this programme and ended up feeling a lot of pain in my spine across my back at bra strap level and around my shoulder blades. It jarred and hurt with every step I took. I am also doing Strength and Flexibility in parallel with C25K and the two stretches for your back (one is 'hug a tree') are helping to sort it out. Pilates type 'roll downs' which stretch your spine have also helped.
Do you spend a lot of time on the computer? That's also a killer for me and entirely due to posture. Having discovered this blog site I need an extra couple of hours in my day!

You can get referred shoulder pain which originates from your gall bladder/stomach - perhaps try making sure you eat carefully on a run day and ensure you are well hydrated to see if that helps. ally x
I do find the eating tricky. I have been having oat biscuits with either peanut butter or houmous on them before I go out. Sometimes when I turn over in bed I get a shooting pain around my rib cage at the back and it feels as if I am breaking in two. It really is painful.

On longer runs my shoulders tend to creep up around my ears as I get tired, very bad for you too. The best thing to do is drop you arms down straight and give them a shake, do this for about 10-15 seconds then go back to your normal running position. Your shoulders should have dropped back down, relieving the pain, if not repeat the arm shake again. Hope this helps a bit.
