First Park run - Your time was 31:07.

Today was my first ever park run and I was quite apprehensive as I have never run with anyone else or as part of a group. As we set off I thought I would keep a steady pace, as the other runners disappeared into the distance it was just me and my ipod, then I passed of couple of people which felt reassuring :-)

I was going at a faster pace than normal for me and was feeling good, just the knees started to hurt again towards the end so I had to slow down or risk not finishing. What I missed was doing a proper 5 minute warm up and warm down, need to ensure I do that next time!!

so this was my official result

"Congratulations on completing your 1st parkrun and your 1st at Shorne Woods today. You finished in 28th place and were the 18th gent out of a field of 35 parkrunners and you came 4th in your age category"

this has given me a boost to want to do better - still not bad for the first time, even if I say so myself :-) I highly recommend joining one if you can.

Ooh what a tiny Parkrun, my local one is Bromley and we had over 400 runners today.

Well done.

Isn't it good to be part of something bigger? Congratulations - just watch those times come down as you get the bit between your teeth!

Well done - great time !

I was handing out the number tokens at the end of our parkrun today - I think that's my favorite job so far. I like cheering people on too. We had 168 people today.

I'm reading your blog here with interest because I'm going to be doing my first Parkrun next Saturday.

I have been wondering how it worked and how they work out your time with so many people there (my local one had just under 400 people running today).

Well done on completing your first Parkrun.

they work out a generic start time form when they say go and then as you finish they hand you a token with that they have matched to the time taken, the person handing out the tokens is very good!

The marshals round the circuit help ensure you are going in the right direction. Good Luck.

Well done, that's brilliant for a first time! You'll get faster and faster. I did my 3rd Parkrun today and I've got faster every week (only by 6 seconds today but it still counts!). I'm having a go at marshalling next week, it'll be nice to have tea and fresh air without having to do the hard work :D

That's a great time, well done! Didn't realise there were such tiny parkruns - ours has got about 150 people on a nice day and I thought that was small!

Fantastic time, well done! I did my 3rd Parkrun yesterday, got a pb (improved by 99 seconds over the previous week, which was 7 minutes faster than my first at a different v muddy course!) There were over 200 runners at mine for the first time

It's all very inspiring; just wish I wasn't the only person with a beetroot face ! :-)
