Fal-di-reeee, fal-di- raaaaa, my knapsack on my back; everybody singing????
Off I set, later than anticipated (hubby not working today, an excuse to stay and snuggle rather than get out and run). Where was I going? I needed to get to Tesco but was I going to go the long way round, do I go all the way down into the valley then have to climb out of it or just stay up on the edge and not have to do the down then up bits? Did I want to do 5k or try to consolidate the 8/9k I've done the last couple of runs?
Yes, I went the long way round and I did the valley. Happy Valley, it's a nice 'level' run ('level' is in ' ' coz it's really a gentle climb, but not too noticeable). The climb out at the far end was a killer though, I'm sure it wasn't that steep or long yesterday when Dog, friend, friend's dog and I all did it on a walk. I had to walk for 30 seconds of it, until it leveled out slightly. Then onto the track behind Tesco. Now do I take the first cut through, which takes me directly there or do my big loop. Big loop it is. Back into Tesco, I remembered to stop the stopwatch, availed myself of the toilet facilities, collected my bag of ice and treated myself to a pot of blueberries (coz they looked sooo nice). Bag of ice only just fit in my backpack (hence the song at the beginning) with the blueberries wedged in the top. And off we go again, stopwatch started for the final run home which turned out to be a quarter of an hour, but that 4lb bag of ice on my back felt heavier than you'd think!
Final stats: Just over 9k in 57 minutes. Not too shabby.
And the ice? BabyBeads' birthday last week, party today, needed the ice, so it was an excuse for a run. Lots of parties this weekend, I've just read Nelly's blog, she's partying for her birthday. I'm sure Gayle is partying as it's her birthday today, or yesterday, or tomorrow (sometime about now). So happy birthday if you're celebrating!
p.s. Sorry if you've got that song stuck in your head.....
