Haha, if you stay as fit and youthful as you are at the moment, nobody would believe you anyway! Hope you are letting your hair down ready for humungeous party later on? Dance the night away...surely you can claim a night of bopping as a 5km equivalent?
Walking a 5K later today while probably pushing the grandkiddies in the stroller. As far as I know, tonight will be quite but PARTY tomorrow night!! Steve is having a BD party for me and it is also our Anniversary. Wham-bam! I worked it right! Pressies 2 days in a row!!
Hmmmm....I do love my cake...no one has mentioned it yet. I wonder how many K's I will need to do to work off cake and celebratory beverages? Thank you!
Well, you little stinker!!!! Thank you so much for my very own little Birthday blog!!!!
I feel very special knowing I am blessed with so many friends, many I haven't ever met, but share a special bond with. I will wear my 5x50 shirt later today when I go out for my walk. True, it has a different meaning now!!! I covered my head with my blankie last night and prayed for a re-count, but it didn't happen...I woke to the icky 50 today!!! BUT, because of my special friends across the pond and my family here, its not turning out so bad after all! I will approach this age as an adventure! Anyone want to go run a 10K with me??
I also woke this morning to pink flamingos and palm trees hanging from the trees in the front yard. My loving family also placed signs out asking the traffic to honk and wish me happy birthday. There's a whole lotta honk'n go'n on!!!
Thank you again for all the well wishes! I'm blessed in my old age!!!!
It was a very nice surprise! I feel very special today knowing I'm thought of with fondness. I am so truly spoilt!!! I will send you a pic straight away! I wanted to get a close-up, but the wind picked up. I now have dancing flamingos and trees.
Had my 50th last April (we're almost twins!) and I made sure I graduated while stil in my 40s .... but in the end I spent my birthday at a funeral for my uncle in Belfast!
By my reckoning that really didn't count at all so I probably only technically turned 50 last week
Thank you Rob! Happy belated Birthday to you and deepest sympathy for the loss if your Uncle. I started C25K 3.5 months after turning 49. I was happy to just graduate considering I never ran a day in my life. After graduation and the first of the year, I sat a goal to run a 10K by my 50 birthday. I did it mid-april. I am so happy I found this site and all of you!
Happy birthday Gayle! Enjoy your partying tomorrow. Now, I know you like smiling faces, so...
Woo hoo!
But - what is this with flamingos and palm trees???? Love the idea of all the cars going past and celebrating with you! It's my husband's birthday next week (just an 'ordinary' one though) - perhaps I'll put some signs out! Though I might not survive...
Too cute! You have me smiling from ear to ear! I do love me smilies!! They found some cute little inflatable flamingos and palm trees to hang from our trees in the yard. Luckily, no wind oe snow today!!! I do believe the neighborhood thinks we're nuts!
Happy birthday lovely lady....sorry it's a bit late, didn't do my post readings Hope it was a great day for you.....and here's to many more healthy and happy 5x50 years
Hi Gayle, let me add my birthday wishes to you, I hope you are enjoying your special day. Didn't you know that 50 is the new 40? I'm sure I'm fitter and healthier now than I ever was at 40 thanks to c25k and this forum!
Dear Gayle, I hope you had a very happy birthday xxx. I love the idea of flamingos in the trees and people honking as they drive past Have a lovely birthday party today, and happy anniversary to you and Steve! What a wonderful weekend for you I'm looking at the big 5-0 later this year and you have given me hope that it's not all bad
Gayle ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY .. so sorry this is a day late but sending you big hugs from the UK. Sounds like you had a fantastic day hope the flamingoes are still in the trees and as Tati says not too many pink elephants chasing them
Be proud of yourself as not many 50 year olds run 10 K
Happy big birthday Gayle, sorry it's a bit late! I am hitting the big 50 later this year, and am so happy knowing I am so much fitter and healthier than when I was approaching my 40th!
My girls got me started losing weight at the very end of September, then they fell off the wagon, leaving me to plod on on my own. I started the C25K a few weeks later, eldest daughter did a couple of runs but that was it & due to us working opposing shifts I couldn't force her to carry on!
I hope you had a great day wth your kids and grandchildren; they really are the light of our lives aren't they! Hope you adn Steve have a lovely anniversary too! Taking my 3 yr old grandson off to a Princess and Pirates party soon; not looking forward to the noise!
Hope the honking stopped in time for your neighbours to sleep, and the flamingos stayed as they were and didn't become the elephants imagined above!
